Why do we always get mocked these”high character guys”. Normally that means unathletic(4.7) Guys who have a lot of heart but not a lot of talent or athleticism to back it up. I would be cool with this guy round 3.

Like CMC?   Luke?  Thomas Davis?  They were all heralded as "high Character".  Nothing wrong with character.   I have had  my eye on Rapp for a  while.  At S,  you want a leader, a  smart, quick reader, and a solid tackler.   He is all  of these.

At S, you need a S that  makes a quick read--like a LB, and  does not  get lost with a  false step.  40 speed is nice-but give me S who  steps toward the ball earlier and truer--4.4 speed after a false step  taking  a  bad angle is what they call a bust.

Lol if we let you do the draft we would have the most unathletic draft ever.. Ferrell in the first then this guy who runs a 4.7 in the second..

Thread had nothing to do with Ferrell and who brings him up?? Hmmmmm smh

CMC,Luke, and TD are all outstanding people,But when your talking about them as players the first thing you mention wouldn't be Character. All of those guys are outstanding athletes first, they wouldn't get the Character label. Nice try though.

Why are you trolling me about Ferrell, this was a chat between me and that guy.

Jmo.  For somebody who doesn't like a player "you" bring him up alot in threads.. "You" also seem to go after anybody who says a nice thing about him or who likes him..

I'm just pointing this stuff out to you...

Because he is just like u and I you. And and him had many back and Forths over that guy and I pointed out that with his draft we would have a very slow class... where is the lie in what I said?

Yes. We’d have a football team, not a track team. Apparently NE keeps winning SBs with football players while those teams that keep drafting fast athletic players keep taking turn drafting in the top 10.

Patriots Starting Defensive Back Combine 40 Yard Time

Devin McCourty FS - 4.38

Chung - SS - 4.49

Gilmore - CB - 4.40

Jason McCourty - CB - 4.3

I see your point but it is made by first creating a falsehood- nobody said character is his best attribute.  If you mention 40 time as more important, then I would disagree and think you have never been on a team before.  Intelligent football players who have  high  character are in demand.  Character is what shines through when times get tough.  The athletic head cases will fold  on you--at least that has  been my experience.  Character players unite teams--fast athletic head cases divide them.

It was not a try---I know what I am talking about.

Thank you... you can’t build a football team with just smart guys. Takes a few guys that actually have some athleticism as well.

You assume I don't? Nobody gets draft with a premise of"he is a good guy"While I agree you want good people in your locker room, you don't get drafted based on that. No one has ever went number one in the draft because,"he's a high character guy' There is always some Freakish attribute that some team think they can use on the field. Cam,Murray,Stafford,Manning, anyone you can think of that gets drafted is a football talent first. Character ranks in the I will take it but not required column for me. Football is the most violent sport on earth...You don't win wars with Choir boys, you want Jason in a hockey mask. Your ability is what I believe should come first. I'm paying you to win football games. I also agree that there are tons of guys who have all the talent in the world(aldon smith comes to mind, josh gordon) but just can't get out of there own way.

If you have a strong locker room like the Panthers do I don't think you pass on a gifted player because he didnt attend sunday school. For every great talent that burns because of there off the field issues, many overcome and go on to have great hall of fame careers. Randy Moss, allen Iverson, the honey badger comes to mind on guys who were off the field trouble makers who got there act together.

Because neither you nor anybody knows how fast Ferrell is because "he hasn't ran a recorded 40' due to injuries" ... Sooooooooooooooooooooooo  your statement would be false based on that general lack of information... Since nobody knows his actual speed we can't say how fast or slow he truly is.....

Its really not that hard to understand...

You seem to think everyone is basing there assessment of Ferrell’s speed off a 40 time. We didn’t have a 40 time for Lamar Jackson but we know he’s fast. No 40 for Kyler Murray but we know he’s fast. No 40 for Hollywood Brown but Mcshay days he’s the fastest human he’s ever seen on tape.

Ferrell doesn’t look fast, everyone can see it not just one person. His lack of speed and top end power stands out. I think he’s a good football player. His lack of special ability puts a roof on his potential, so I don’t think he’s a good as a lot of these guys can be. He could be better than Gary,Burns, Sweat right now(I don’t think he is)but due to his limited upside It brings his grade down.
