Tony Pauline: Taylor Rapp would be excellent fit for Panthers

The big news coming from Washington pro day was Taylor Rapp running in the mid 4.7’s.  I’m told he timed from 4.72 to 4.77 seconds despite the fact Rapp had been running much faster in recent training.

Where is Rapp going to land in the draft after today?

He wasn’t a flat-out burner on film rather Rapp makes a lot of plays with his head and intensity.  I’d be surprised if he gets out of round two as Rapp is a high character prospect whose leadership skills has been lauded by scouts.

His official visit list over the next two weeks includes the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, St Louis Rams, New York Giants and Carolina Panthers, who'd be an excellent fit for Rapp.

Why do we always get mocked these”high character guys”. Normally that means unathletic(4.7) Guys who have a lot of heart but not a lot of talent or athleticism to back it up. I would be cool with this guy round 3.

Brought him up in my mock draft. Love him in the 2nd. Reminds me of Kurt and a poor man Harrison Smith

Lol if we let you do the draft we would have the most unathletic draft ever.. Ferrell in the first then this guy who runs a 4.7 in the second..

Slow non athletic players are like the non attractive,... they have to work harder, read more, be more in every way to make up for their lacking.

Whats the song?

"If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife"

Athletic attractive people have it easy, get picked first, are wanted.  Therefore lazy, selfish, self entitled,..

or so the story goes until they get knocked down a few notches-- get a bloody nose or lose big a few times.

Re-signing Reid took guys like this off our board or knocked them way down our board IMO. I think we've finally woken up and realize that we need to find a true centerfielder type of FS.

A versatile S like Amos would have opened up a lot more possibilities in the draft. For just a little more.

I feel like the Panthers new mindset is starting to take notice of that. If you look at where we have found success in the draft recently with athletic players... CMC Dontae Jackson, Samuels to a degree, and even in the 4th round with our future at TE. Now let’s look at where we missed... Gaulden the guy taken ahead of the guy we traded down for... slow secondary guy. No thanks.

Yes. We’d have a football team, not a track team. Apparently NE keeps winning SBs with football players while those teams that keep drafting fast athletic players keep taking turn drafting in the top 10.

Let’s be honest... Brady is the common denominator.. but if you look at the guys they were draft gronk, freaky, Arron was a top tier athlete, Sony micheal also a high grade althete. They went and got guys like Josh Gordon, Randy Moss, Phillip Dorsett, Brandon Cooks, and Cordelle Patterson. Team with the better horses generally wins the race. Team was very so so when it was just Hogan and Amendola.

The best is to have a gifted guy have a great work ethic. Those are hard to find.
