lol I guess its a such a "panthers pick". Dude just isn't that good. not 16th pick good. He doesn't have a special trait of where he wins.... He wins because he try's very hard and does give up? That's a good trait but if that's your trump card then that's not good enough in the NFL.  This dude is Kevin Dodd part 2.

Yes fine is fine...fine meaning a talent that fits the pick...

Fine isn't ever the goal for a first round pick. If your picking at 16, and you there are 22 people on offense and defense. you get the 4th best pass rusher in the draft then that isnt fine... you should be getting a top end best at position guy. at least number 2. were all the way down to almost 4. Your basically forcing a need. That can end badly.

Here is what Matt Miller has in his latest mock.  He had us taking Burns and Ferrell going 17 to Giants.

Right defensive end Clelin Ferrell can play with his hand in the dirt or standing up as an outside edge-rusher. Teams will love his length, burst and work ethic with a non-stop motor that allows him a number of effort sacks against top-tier blockers.

Ferrell's ability to convert speed to power is eye-opening and could be everything the Giants are looking for in a top-tier defensive end to build around.

  1. I’m not sure why I thought he was a straight 4-3 guy.  I liked him early but then lost a little interest after the combine.  Hopefully the panthers can determine if the toe thing actually hampered him or if it’s BS.
  2. I will say this.  He is a high motor guy.  And I want more of those guys going forward.

I know you are not that high Ferrell. Who are you hoping we get at 16?  I want Burns, Sweat, Ferrell in that order.

I want Sweat first and foremost for about where we are picking. I love Gary as well. Burns i like. All of those guys have special traits...they are explosive or have freakish speed and strength for their size. My whole thing is about what makes a guy special... where do you win.

I am intrigued by Gary’s athleticism.  It his production analytics that put the breaks on for me.  Although if we get him I’m sure I will hop in his bandwagon.

This is a good point.  One thing that kinda bothers me is the Giants need for an edge and them picking right behind us.  Does Gettleman jump us if those edge guys get thin?  Hmm.

Let him. I fear the Panthers will draft an edge rusher even he's 10th on thier board and pass up on a great player at another position

Where does this guy win? What are his special traits? He had 15.5 sacks last season.

  • 6'6"HEIGHT
  • 34 1/2"ARM LENGTH
  • 310LBS.WEIGHT
  • 10 3/4"HANDS

5.03 SEC

26 REPS

24.5 INCH

106.0 INCH

7.44 SEC

4.62 SEC

Really cool article on Ferrell.  Also scroll to the bottoms.  Redskins fans have some interesting comments on the Edge guy they are looking for.  And of course they pick right before us.

They also make a good point that he is elite against the run. I know we want to rush the passer, but getting gashed in the run game is no fun either.
