Let me get this straight, you're talking about trading up to the #1 overall pick, correct?

This last draft was so fruitful with 3-4 starters from that draft alone should make you pretty confident in taking that leap. We couldn't do that if we drafted scrubs. Giving up a first and or a player won't hurt a team that, with good health is almost stacked.

Live a little, and get Allen. Target your best case scenario, why not. If he can contribute immediately that's a win win at a vital position. Yes.

I'm not sure you grasp what it would take to trade up from #16 to #1. Wanna trade our entire draft for one pick? Willing to consider trading Cam or Luke? That's the type of massive trade you're talking about. For a player who has never played a down in the NFL.

I've really started coming along to him lately, especially seeing how much we're looking at a 3-4 look. Dude's got ton of talent and similar stats to Von Miller's college career at similar frame.

His play's also very encouraging. Hope we get him.

Sorry man, I like Burns but he isn’t Von Miller.  He is extremely close as a comp to Floyd from the Bears.  If we get that ok, that’s fine with the hope he is more.  Burns has a bust factor no doubt but the skills are there.  He is still mostly a speed rusher and lacks power.  If he wants to be great he will be, if he coasts he’ll bust.

Knowing that this is Hurneys fight or flight year,..like 2008,.. I could see excitement with panic attack when he jumps for 2 first round picks,..

OT and DE or DE and DT or something crazy.

That had better be the 32nd pick of the 2020 draft.

Compares to  Sweat---here is how:

Sweat ran a ridiculous 4.41; Burns ran a very fast 4.53 (after  gaining 29 pounds--remember adding the weight--not  gonna keep  typing  it)

He  and Sweat had about the same  3 cone time

He outjumped Sweat in the Broad jump--they both had a 36 inch vert.

They are both freakish athletes.  I  would take either.  Do I  think he could go earlier than 16?  Yes, but if he and Sweat are gone, some other stud  will  be there---

FSU EDGE Brian Burns took a top 30 visit to Carolina and told me recently they've probably shown the most interest in him so far.

The more I hear from both these ends, the less I want them. I'm an FSU fan and Burns didn't really stand out at all last year. Clemson D-Lineman always flop in the NFL dating back to Gaines Adams RIP. I'm more open to a DT to get pressure up the middle. That's all we talked about last year when taking on the hall of fame QB's. This is why Short was so dominant. I think we can get the best of another position that goes forgotten at 16 and have just a good of a shot at a DE in the 2nd/3rd since it's so deep. The more DE's there are, the more chances for a bust.

Nobody is trading Cam or Luke. I didn't say that. Other players also have value, not trying to call guys out, and picks should definitely be on the table, yes. Be aggressive when you can.

With all the QB's moving up, even to #1, no, may not need the #1 pick to get the best 1-2 DE's in this draft.

The better question is " do you think they should get into a position to draft a top DE in the draft?"

Heck yeah, you've built up enough capital from the last draft that getting that guy your franchise needs, the next JP or Aaron Donald can be your first purpose. Dline needs a major upgrade.

If the notion is that we currently have such an amazing roster that we can just mortgage the draft for one stellar guy and be done, I gotta say oh hell, no.

Just the opposite, honestly. I really think we need to hit on multiple picks.

Nobody is mortgaging a future. There are 7 picks, 7 more next year. Turning a couple picks into a great player isn't something to be feared. Embrace your fear Scot.
