Every Bruce Irvin Sack From 2018

I personally really like this signing. While some argue he's washed, I do think he has plenty left in the gas tank. After all, he's only 32. He's not that old when you think about it. And for 4 million? A really good steal imo.

Anyhow, here's a reel of his 2018 sacks. He was still plenty productive last year.

Good stuff.

Some more interesting tidbits:

Irvin produced a sack or QB hit on 8.3% of his pass-rush opportunities, which would be the ninth-best mark among the 174 players who had at least 200 pass-rush snaps during the 2018 season.

Now, if he does reclaim 2017 levels, that's a solid steal of a contract without a doubt. He was outstanding that year and in years previous. I think at worst he'll likely have a Julius Peppers-esque impact and at best, probably a true answer to our pass rush.

Love this signing and I think he is going to thrive on our defense. Sign Tre Boston and bring on the draft.

How do we know that Gaulden won't be better than Boston?

Yep, the Irving signing I'd nice. He's just 31, so I don't get the lazy Pep comparisons. I expect more from a 31year old Irvin than a 36 or 37 year old Pep. We should get a decent year out of him, and hopefully a couple of more if things work out.

I don’t know but right now he doesn’t have anyone to compete with come otas and spring training. If we can get Boston for around 2 million let the best man win.

For anyone who is saying it, Searcy is not a free safety and at best is Reid’s back up but should probably be cut for the cap space. I don’t trust the guy to stay healthy.

Searcy largely played FS with the Titans, and he was playing it with us before he went down. He had an above average safety rating in 2017 according to PFF.

That is my stance also.  I’m not necessarily a fan of it but Searcy lost weight when he can here to play FS.  And RR has a man crush with win.  I believe the FO thinks they are fine at safety.

Lets see how that works out.

Seems far more effective without his hand on the ground. Reaffirms how different the panthers D will look.

Hes never really been a traditional, hand in the ground defensive end, has he?  I always thought he was more of an OLB / Edge Rusher.  He doesnt really have the size to be an every down 4-3 DE does he?

Rams, Browns, Chargers, Packers, Cards, Cards and Panthers.

Two of those were in banner playoff years, the Packers are perennial favorites, the Browns are everyone's wunderkind. Those weren't chump teams he was getting sacks against (including that strip sack to open up with).

If he could just turn out that kind of performance again, he's worth the spot.

Michael Strahan was 6'5" but only 255 and was 6th all time in sacks as a 4-3 down linemen. So size isn't the biggest factor. Speed and strength are.
