I prefer burns as well but if I'm sticking the OPs question.

Sweat

Ferrell

Gary

Gary is the type of player we always fall in love with but the tape doesn't lie. Despite his superior athleticism in an unathletic conference, he's been pedestrian.

No my fault for not adding Burns he can definitely be on your list..

I would also prefer Burns, but am not sure either he or Sweat will be available. I'm kinda lukewarm on Gary and Ferrell, but also remember some of the same concerns about Julius Peppers when he was drafted (takes plays off; not always motivated).

I'd be happy with any of the three, actually. If two of them are on the board when the Panthers draft, I'd even entertain a trade down a few spots to pick up more picks.

Peppers won multiple national awards and had 30.5 sacks in 34 career college games. If he took plays off, he was extraordinarily productive when he did play. IMO, that was all garbage anyway. He just made it look so easy as a player that people expected him to dominate every single down at every level. We are talking about the same "taking plays off/unmotivated" guy that finished his career 4th all-time in career sacks.

Gary on the other hand does have the legitimate question mark about his production. In his 34 game career he did only product 9.5 sacks. Sure, some of that can be attributed to how they used him but the questions about his lack of production/dominance even in his role are legitimate. He did prove to be a very high level athlete at the combine, so I think a lot of teams are more than willing to overlook that(as am I).

Burns would scare me a lot if we weren't gearing up to be a lot more multiple with the 3-4 looks.

would be happy with any of the three or Burns.

For me right now it's

1 Burns

2 Gary

3 Sweat

4Ferrell

I'd also be happy with Jonah Williams or Dillard.

i have a feeling at least ONE of those guys will be there at 16.

Ferrell is growing on me. Consistent production...great frame...good motor....not alot of bend but his burst off the line is ridiculous at times.

To answer though, If all three played to potential and were fully motivated:

Gary ..Sweat...Ferrell.

If I'm a betting man ... Hurney is eyeing drafting one of Clemson Dlinemen (unless Sweat drops), Joejuan, a OT and FS with the first 4 picks.

Out of curiosity, why do you rank Ferrell so highly versus those other guys?

IMO Dude has been a productive player since day 1 in college.. So you have 3 years of tape and production with him.. He is the most productive player on the list and he is a underclassman.. He wasn't just a top rated prospect this year he has been one for a few years.. That means something.  Based on "me" watching all these guys.. He is the most polished of the 4 as a pass rusher.. He not only beat ppl physically he seem like he watches film and find tendencies to help him.. He also has more pass rushing moves than the rest of them.. And while he isn't a freak talent he is steady and day 1 ready to contribute.. He was on one of the best Dline ever but still was the top dog.. So guys benefit out of playing with him not the other way around like Hall..

Watch Voch breakdown.  You will see his great get off (reading the snap) .  Strong against the run and him setting up OT with a variety of moves..

Plain and simple I have the least concerns with Ferrell than I do the other guys..

Every few days I change my opinion. Around 5 times and I do not view Bosa as the top edge or top pick. Id take Sweat over him.

Then there's this "new" defense Rivera is installing, I have no idea what he wants/needs in a player profile.

I feel there is a HUUUUGE bust rate that's going to follow this DL draft class too, hope herniay 2.0 works his 1st round magic.
