More than I probably would have wanted to pay. Would have liked to see it be more incentive laden where the base was lower and the max was higher if he would have gone for it but this really isn't too bad of a deal for us. Hopefully Torrey is on his way out as a corresponding move to give us more breathing room since this puts us pretty close to the cap line.

We could only dream. I think the only way he would have been gone was for us to not pick up his option. They like his leadership, he will be a Carolina Panther this year unfortunately!

Bruce Irvin remembered vividly the car Panthers coach Ron Rivera drove to a meeting with him prior to the 2012 draft, when he ultimately was selected in the first round (15th overall) by Seattle. "It was a black Hyundai,'' Irvin said after signing a one-year deal with Carolina. "Today it was a Mercedes. I think a S550. So slight upgrade.'' Irvin hopes he is an upgrade to the Carolina defense that wants to get back to a top 10 level.

I certainly think the Gettleman EDGE requirement is gone. Just look at Haynes last year. To me, them saying "multiple" opens a lot of doors for types.
