Robinson showed some promise as a WR. When we cut Hackett it'll free up a WR spot that Robinson could take.

this will likely happen. at the end of last year robinson started coming on as a returner AND a wide receiver... guys that can play multiple rolls well are invaluable. nice to have both robinson and jones back on kick returns and no matter who gets it, they have a chance to get some good yardage.

still waiting for jones to take one to the house... he seems on the verge but it's just not happening. i'm guessing it will before too long tho (hoping at least!)

Is this a joke?

Where are the mods at on this sh*tty site?

why? truth hurt that much? Carney is a geezer and has the same trouble on KOs that Kasay has...I don't think there was one KO by Carney that went deeper than the 10. If bringing that out to the 30 gets you excited, I guess a return to the 20 on a kick to the goal line does as well.

My opinion of Jones is that he's serviceable. He doesn't fumble and he doesn't dick around with trying to juke the coverage guys. He gets what he can get and that's ok for what we have now. He has zero quickness from what I can tell, he looks slow as hell.

And that makes him a better return man than anybody the panthers have had since Michael Bates! Jones has been getting better as the season goes along. Don't blame him because the kicker can't kick deeper. He just works with what he is given.

This guy is awesome. On about every return he got us out to at least the 35.

He is such a better option than Robinson.

Although I agree that he has been good....he has been far from awesome. Many times I have thought, "what if we had Robinson's speed on THAT return!"

Remember, it's not just Jones, it's the entire special teams play that is improved from last year.

And he's not a better receiver.

you people that are hating on jones are complete idiots. So what if the kicks didn't get past the 10, in recent years that's about where it would have stayed. I've been saying for a long time now that the most important piece this team needed was someone who could return kicks past the 20 and he does usually get them to atleast the 35 which is huge, and I might be wrong but i'm pretty sure he is second in the league in punt return yards. Who I really want to give props too though is Brayton, he was a beast in the first half atleast. It looked like he was the spy on jacobs because he was tghe only one that seemed to get him down on first contact, i'm becoming a big fan

I agree 100%

Oh, I wasn't blaming him...but I wasn't jacked up because he was returning kicks to the 35 that he caught at the 20. Some folks on the board need to keep a little perspective was all I was meaning to suggest. He avgs 11 yards per punt return which is good for 9th in the league, well done....but on kick offs he's right in the middle of the pack. Still not bad, but not great either. One of them "could be worse", "could be better" deals.

Robinson is fast, he could be a nice talent for us, but you can't get rid of Mark Jones who's a really really good returner. This is the first year in a long time I don't cringe each time we're returning a punt.

The decision is easy. You let Mark Jones, Ryne Robinson, Dwayne Jarrett, and Jason Carter battle it out for three roster spots. Hackett gets cut.
