Because Hurney loves trading it is like crack to him. It's not a good thing. Usually Hurney gets fleeced on trades. or trades picks to move up a few spots for a player that he overdrafts.

With few moves so far in free agency, you may be right.  I am hoping the 2.0  version is better, but  he cannot help himself.  I  think Haynes would have been there if he waited.

There is not a QB in the draft that would be a good backup for Cam. So I definitely don't see us taking one. Looks like Allen will get his chance.

only problem is if the 3-4 front is happening Ferrell doesn't fit. he's not a guy your gonna be able to play much if at all in a 3-4 front. He can't play OLB, or 3-4 end. So he wouldn't get any snaps on 3-4 looks here. Has to be one of the guys able to play standing up or at end in 3-4 looks to make any sense.

Also, gotta be honest, if cam isnt healthy or gets injured, our season is toast regardless of who our backup is.  Allen can win a game or 2, but not much more which is about what I could hope for in a late draft rookie.  Sell out and revamp this terrible defense.

I'll take Allen or Heinecke vs. using a precious draft pick on a "potential" 2nd or 3rd string QB.

We're to the point where we need to start planning for the future and have a contingency plan for Newton both health and contract wise.

I agree, although I'm not overly high on any of these midround QBs. Ta'amu would be high on my list of a guy I'd want starting in the 4th round.

I've heard more than one analyst suggest that next year is a better draft for quarterbacks.

That said, we got caught with our pants down last year when Newton got hurt and Heinicke didn't look so good. I think it was Rivera (could have have been Turner) who said after the season ended that they didn't want to repeat that mistake.

Guess we'll see whether it works out or not.

I really hope we are lucky enough to draft Clelin Ferrell. From what I've seen some mocks have him going within the top 15 and some have him going late round. Either way we need a defensive end/edge rusher.

I know our defense is converting to a 3-4 though, which he doesn't fit super well but still I would take him. It looks like maybe Rashan Gary would fit in a 3-4? Maybe? I hope we don't draft him though his numbers in college don't scream first round, otherwise I don't know much about him.

Talking Second round if Deionte Thompson drops to our pick that would just be amazing...
