Another good resource if people haven’t read it is “Eating Dangerously - Jennifer Brown and Michael Booth” it’s not a pro or anti diet rhetoric. However it will shed some serious light on modern Food, Safety, Culture and how clueless most Americans are when it comes to food not to mention our government as well.

So is it not needed? Or is it harmful? You classified it as “junk” which you benefit from bypassing along with sugar and pesticides, implying that it is harmful to the body.

It’s not needed and can be harmful. I still classify it as junk. Myself and many others have seen a significant improvement in gut health but ditching fiber. There are a couple of good books out there- The Fiber Myth and The Plant Pardox come to mind. Gary Taubes also discusses fiber in Cood Calories, Bad Calories. You don’t need fiber to detox or clean you out, the body is quite capable of that without ingesting indigestible irritants. Also, to your point, if you don’t eat pesticides and sugar there’s no need to try to flush them out.

Modern humans are eating their selves to death.  Sounds like a combination of  the wrong diet for sedentary life styles and complete lack of willpower.

That may be, haven't had time to digest the link,   but I bet it is certainly more planet and sentient creature friendly than the alternatives.

I agree mostly with this. Most modern disease pathology is rooted in chronic, systemic inflammation and instead of taking drugs we need to be proactive in lowering inflammation. Willpower is certainly a key, but so is good information. We’ve been fed (literally and figuratively) bullshit for decades and now it’s catching up to us. I had to ignore my doctor and actually go against her advice in order to reclaim my health.

for the sake of your family I hope what you got going on diet wise works for you.  But what works for short periods of time can be very bad for you long term.  I'm sold on a low fish pescatarian diet myself.  I've been one for over 25 years, so I know first hand how I am doing long term with my diet choice.  I also believe my health could be even better by cutting out all or most of the dairy I consume, which isn't a whole lot.   When I look around at the average person when out and about, I see that I am much fitter than about 75% of the public I see - across ALL age groups -  young to old.   When a 60 year old man is more physically fit than the average 25 year old, something is wrong. Probably many somethings.

Long term study results - imagine that diets low on whole grains, low on whole fruits and veggies, low on nuts, seeds and legumes are leading to early death.

Diets HIGH on red meat and processed meat lacking those fruits and veggies can lead to early death.

Hmmm its almost like we have facts that a high veggie diet trumps a meat heavy diet any day.
