A Bright Future

Jake has been horrible this season, but other than that we've shown promise.

The defense has made great strides and is one of the best in the league at the moment, and the running game seems to have picked up where it left off in 2008. We have three strong tight-ends and a road-grading powerful offensive line. We have a playmaking Wide Receiver and young guys that could do well in the future. Our defensive line is stout, and we have one of the best linebacking corps in the league. Chris Gamble, Chris Harris and Captain Munnerlyn have been bright spots in the secondary.

2009 is over, and it will forever be regarded as the season in which Jake Delhomme single-handedly lost us the season. Bench him, start Matt Moore and see what he can do. If he can't win games for us, draft a QB next year. Doesn't have to be a first-rounder, just someone who can complete passes on third down. The draft is DEEP next year at QB.

I know that Fox + Davidson have taken some criticism, but consider this: We were on pace to win all of these games (except the Eagles game perhaps, but there is no way of telling) if it weren't for the Delhomme turnovers. Easily we could have been 5-1 or at worst 4-2. The turnovers have lost us our four games and almost lost us the Tampa Bay and Washington games. The playcalling and gameplans have been good enough to win every game we've been apart of. My only criticism of Fox is how long he has stuck with Jake. He's been good in the past, but his time is over. He is the worst QB in the league, even worse than Derek Anderson and Jamarcus Russell. He is a liability, and it's time to start looking ahead.

Have some optimism, Panther fans...We have young talent and a winning football coach (even if he is a little stubborn) and a good chance at being a contender next year and into the future. All we need is QB who doesn't turn the ball over 3 times a game. (and those are easy to find)
