3-4OLBs still put their hands in the dirt sometimes when lined up outside on the edge like that.  Look at Demarcus Ware.

That clip showed him lined up wide coming off the edge on the 2 sacks.  Which is generally the role of the OLB in the 3-4

Vs a lot further inside than what he was in that video.  2 gaping.  Lining up inside the OT.  He was lined a few feet outwide of the OT which is where your OLB comes from.

It also show him being high with no bend... He is a DE dude.. He isn't bending the corner.. He is either unblocked and running in or he is using traditional DE hand fighting and getting around the Tackle.. And then again there is still the question of back peddling and playing coverage.. 

You are setting him up to fail.. It's a easier transition to 34 DE with his size strength and physical ability right now...

If Moton is the guy we start to groom as the LT, we can easily draft a round 1-2 guy next years draft to replace Williams

if J Williams or any other top OT is there at 16, the Panthers should take him. If the top D prospects are gone, it comes down to BPA at the position and that may be a OT or a LB. our LBs aren’t exactly overwhelming either past Luke. One injury at that position, bad news

Don't think we can afford to make an insurance pick at 16. That reeks of the Vernon Butler situation and we all know how that turned out. If Williams knee holds up and he has a quality year, we'll likely try to extend him and then we have our first round pick just sitting on the bench. Maybe it's worth taking that chance in the third round, but not in the first when you're expecting a major piece to build your future around. 

With this loaded draft, defensive end at 16 needs to be the pick except in the crazy scenario where every top option has been drafted already, which seems highly unlikely. And if so, we will probably have our pick of the top free safety or cornerback that we can plug in as a day 1 starter (with shifting Jackson to nickel for the latter scenario).

We drafted a project in the third last year. That is completely different than drafting someone that can start the position day 1.

1. If a top ot is available at 16,it is a10 year pick, not a reserve pick

2. The owner clearly stated, the guy who owns the team, what he expects and that is protecting  the franchise.   The franchise is Newton

3 the odds of a top level DL Being there at 16, are not great 

I don’t care how great the DL is, if the QB has two seconds to throw,it is 7and 9 or worse

I was never in a position to grab one of the top DEs, really, although Ferrell was there at 16. I opted for White because I think he's a stud and would fit nicely here.

Risner I saw as a value pick, as he could probably go in the first round. I know none of these sites are perfect, and Bradbury was still on the board, but I think Risner fit what we need more right now, a RT prospect with experience at C and the likely ability to play guard also. Bradbury, I feel like, is more of a true Center, and I think Paradis has us covered now.

Savage was kind of a reach imho. I wasn't happy with what was available, and it was likely a little early for him. However, he perfectly fits our nickel need and/or could play FS well as a cover safety, even though he is a little smallish. In a perfect world, I would have traded down (not a function on their site) and got him a little later plus another pick.

This left me really needing to get some EDGE/DL guys, so I doubled up on the next two picks. In the spirit of doubling up, I got two JJ's. These are guys who I think are projects, but have all the physical tools of solid contributor-starter status players written all over them.

I rounded out the draft with getting one of the more underrated backs IMHO, and an inside mauler for the OL.
