Delhomme II

perfect fit for this team would be Kyle Orton. or sumone like him. rarely puts up 300 yards but only has 1 int on the year and it came on a haily mary at the end of a half. we'd be 4-2, possibly 5-1 with him.

not that Den would trade him, but this is the type of QB we would have went DEEP into the playoffs last year with and would really open up the run game this year also

that INT was to Randy Moss too.

Kyle Orton is the prototypical QB for this offense. Doesn't need to make a whole lot of plays. Just needs to pass effectively enough for the defense to respect the passing game.

exactly. sucks we are stuck with a guy that actually loses us games. not only does he not help our chances, but he hurts them.

Wonder what things would have been like if Smitty didnt catch that X-Clown in double OT in 2003 and this franchise didnt have that "Super Bowl Hat" to hang on delhomme......

Jake is going to redeem himself next Sunday. 5 TD's, 0 Int, 395 yards...

wtf are you smokeing ?? I want some of that poo !!! 0 td's 2 ints and 92 yds. And that is if he stays in for the second half.

Sorry, haven't heard from RT81 today, thought I'd throw out unwarranted optimism.

We play a Coryell style of offense and Orton just isn't good enough on deep passes for us. We need someone who can accurately throw the deep ball more than anything else.

Leinart?

If only.

Kyle Orton is the perfect example. There are probably four or five Ortons sitting behind somebody right now that might be free agents. They aren't sexy, but they win games. They don't have to complete it to Smitty 40 yards downfield...15 yards and let Smitty do the rest.

    • You realize the Commanders and Texans both had trash rosters. That's how they ended up with the #2 pick.   How all of sudden they go from bottom feeders to a playoff team the following season?   I think you don't realize the true impact of a franchise QB. It's crazy people still trying to debate the value of the QB position.   Y'all living in the 90's football isn't played that way anymore. The Baltimore Ravens dominate defense won in a different era. This is a QB era. You can't hit them like you could in the past. The rules have changed in favor of the QB.   Look at the elite teams in the league they all have elite QBs. Without the QB your franchise is going nowhere.   7 years under Tepper and fans still haven't realized this. Well keep ignoring the QB position and we will keep sucking. It's really that simple.
    • He needs to retire. His short stint returning to play for us showed Ho bad his shoulder had degraded.  No team is going to sign him. As soon as he retires the celebration of his career can begin.
    • The recipe over the last 5 years: 1. draft a guy with high athletic ability at a position of need.  2. play him out of his natural position because you have a big hole to fill. 3. watch him struggle.  4. let a young and promising talent grow depressed and apathetic because a God forsaken franchise is ruining what he has busted his ass his entire life to achieve.  The only reason Luke moved to the middle was because Beason got hurt. Think about that. It’s complete arrogance of the coaching staff to tell a player where he’s better suited… or the mark of a desperate team who drafts out of need.    This is what happens to teams that draft poorly and have no depth. Constantly working from behind and drafting for need.
