Trust me, I don’t view any transaction as a charity case.

I respect how he’s handling his struggle. I also don’t believe it’s a true fit at this point, from a financial/football perspective.

It’s the same pushback I got from some fans when I said I’d rather not retain Eric Reid. I didn’t view Reid as an optimal long-term component for this secondary. I had to navigate through some fairly ignorant political landmines to explain this, particularly considering I don’t care about his personal affairs.

Mental health awareness is a very important issue to me and many people I know. But not for a second will I blame a football team for passing on a player if it’s not a good fit, even if that player suffers from mental illness.

Honestly I share your mental health awareness concerns. But I don't think you are right about Reid or about Griffin from a football point of view. Reid is a stud we got cheaply because of his political views and Griffin would be a good choice due to the stigma of mental health issues.  Both of these guys have plenty left in the tank and from a purely football point of view would be good additions. (Reid already is). The only reason we have done well getting folks relatively cheaply in free agency is because we are taking some gambles that everything will work out and these players will contribute and fit in. Hurney is rolling the dice and I hope it is a 7 or 11 instead of snake eyes.

Honestly, this scares me.

We would really be putting a lot of our eggs in baskets with serious question marks. Paradis coming off of a broken leg. Williams coming off of a season ending knee injury. Cam's shoulder. Griffen coming off of a mental breakdown, not to mention the fact that he's 31.

If everything worked out, those moves could honestly make us a contender but there's a very real chance that it could absolutely blow up in our faces.

Barring decent success this season, it's time to blow it up anyways.

We really don't have much other choice. With Addison,KK, and kalil eating up the cap you have to be more risky.

    • Speaking of quarterbacks... Wondered If perhaps he also talked about Bryce but given the source I wouldn't necessarily bet on it.
    • Yeah we have invested a bunch ot time with tight ends and it's clearly obvious they like Warren. I think they really wanted to dive into the others to see the gap personally and make a decision off that. If they feel Taylor or  1 of the other tight ends have  good upside as a 2 way tight end, they may go that route.  Warren is the only 1 right now that  shows he could be a starter bc he isn't a liability in run or pass.   They have options.  The same goes for edge. They are trying to see the gap between Walker etc and the next wave of rushers. The value may be too good to not go offense early and then go edge later if the drop aint bad. This is a true battle amongst defense n offense in the draft room and they are doing a mini process of elimination.
