When you're actually trying to prove Matt Kalil is good in order to take a swipe at Gettleman (which is kind of a weird juxtaposition on it's own) it might be time to seek help :Eyes_Emoji_42x42:

individual performances have been used as a quick and convenient way to discredit gettleman for years to the point that i almost wish PFF didn’t exist. maybe they can more accurately assess a player’s ability but way too often their data is manipulated for the purposes of furthering an individual agenda.

The swipe is at the interest in Remmers.

I've seen your posts here over the years, so I'm not surprised you responded that way. At the very least I can source some information. Kalil talent wise at LT wasn't a bad signing, the contract was, however when Funchess gets 13M for a year, and guys like Humphries and Beasley are getting 9m a year it's all determined by the market, and what is avaialble and who has cap to spend.

The point which most have missed is I'm not bringing back a player that wasn't good enough to be extended the first time around, and this is Gett being Gett going after an aging vet that isn't good. But the Kalil bashers stepped in as usual and derailed. I'll leave you all to it, hell half of ya'll want Cam gone.

Even Remmers cashed in in MIN.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the deal is a five-year contract worth $30 million.

He's likely being brought back as depth, likely for cheap and possibly as a guard since the Vikings had him change positions.

Let it go, dude.

I mean we did have the number 1 offense in the league and went 15-1 the year Remmers was starting for us.  Von Miller showed him who his daddy was in the Super Bowl, but I dont remember him being completely terrible overall.

He wasn't terrible at all. Many of us here were pleasantly surprised by both him and Oher. 2014/2015 Von Miller was a one man wrecking crew. Joe Thomas would have struggled by himself with that SOB in that Super Bowl.

Remmers is, at the very least, solid depth.....as long as he’s not looking to sign him to some 5 year $80 million contract, then this isn’t really worthy of criticism.

This is true.  except for two games he played really well at RT for us in 2015. It wasn’t until he moved to the left he became a disaster

Remmers honestly wasn't THAT bad for us outside of the most important game he ever suited up for. His Achilles heel is speed rushers and his OC left him on an island against the best speed rusher in the game on the biggest stage in sports. That's honestly not Mike Remmers' fault.

He's nowhere close to the worst OL we ever started. I sure hope that Byron Bell, Nate Chandler, and Amini Silatolu will never be surpassed in that category.

Funny

But Remners isnt the worst O lineman we've ever had. Not even close.

Yeah not even close. Remmers was solid for about a year and half. Got torched in the super bowl but that was probably more scheme than anything else. Offensive staff never gave him help with the best pass rusher of his generation.

hate when people say "can't make this poo up" It would be a solid signing. I would have been for him coming here on

a cheap deal in a back up capacity. Better than amini and can play multiple positions. As long as he isn't a starting tackle then Im good

lol...nope

Shiii, Remmers was terrible, worse than Kalil, just made less, and was at RT. i know a lot of people give Kalil a hard time, but he actually graded out well as 2017 came to a close (final half of the season), in an 11-5 season. He wasn't elite, but he was solid down the stretch. I think he average like a mid 70's grade throughout the 2nd half of the year.

Paradis the Ceneter most of us are happy about was around 80's if memory serves before injury. We could be doing worse at LT aside from the contract. However that is simply the market for avg, or even below avg LT's given college T's aren't coming in prepared for the pro game.

Feels like a lot of people forget that we were playing well, we just had NO RECEIVERS vs New Orleans.

Image result for matt kalil pff

If this isn't proof that PFF is absolute fuging garbage, then there's no convincing anyone.

Exactly, no one can look past him by being able to stop Von miller by himself. I remember him being pretty stout against JJ Watt.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
