Well, you can tire of anybody after a while.

No disrespect to Kevin, but Delhomme would definitely be more fun than Donnalley.

Either way, I expect a whole lot of people are gonna get pissed in this thread because they fired a Panthers radio guy and it wasn't Mixon.

(I actually like Mixon too, he gets a bad rap)

Wonder if this means anything for Jim Szoke.

Not to argue your taste but have you had to listen to Mixon on the radio or XM ? Very difficult for me..

has nothing to do with the creepy sexy-time references ... I actually enjoy that but he’s just not fast enough in today’s NFL. That’s my only real issue with him .

if you’re into a game and biting your fingernails it feels like an eternity to here what’s happening or who is doing what. Just not real time like other really good radio guys. He’s ok if you’re watching it but he’s lost (or never had) the feel if you need a picture over the radio .

Lets keep moving up Tep .

Yeah, I have. I thought he was okay. I've heard better but I never thought he deserved all the flack he got.

I've also heard worse. Wasn't a big fan of the Bucs announcer for example. Heard him in the 2008 Panthers-Bucs highlights and always thought he spoke every word sounding like he was straining on the toilet.

My issue with Mick isn’t his voice (though it’s not the best).

He misses his mark too often during games. Too boxed in with clock and score resets, not in tune with the play at hand quite enough. Tends to zone out during the “apex” of a call, while other more-polished broadcasters capture that moment with both inflection and clarity. Mick either screams beyond his limit or unenthusiastically mutters after a Carolina score. It’s always unnatural.

It’s a tough job. He’s decent, and a swell guy. But just not my cup o’ tea. NFL radio PxP calls are a huge part of a team’s legacy. I’d prefer an upgrade at some point.

I rmember when he was hired, it was an "out of left field" thing. There were a couple of good candidates from other NFL teams, but when the news came that it was Mixon, it was a shock.

Mixon's background was in the wrong specialty (color vs play by play) with the wrong sport (basketball vs football). Yet there he was...

Never really understood why the Panthers went so far out of the box other than that Mixon was relatively well known in the region.
