A 5th is all I’d give since he has 1 year then the 5th year option. You could talk me into a 4th and 6th for their 5th and Ogbah or something.

He was who I wanted instead of Butler. He has been solid, not good or great, but the 4th year is prime breakout time for a DE.

He's not. That's why I said he was basically a better version of Horton. He's a solid tackler and edge setter in run support but he really doesn't give you much juice in the pass rush department. I'd be interested in adding him as a rotational piece, but at what cost? I can't see going any higher than a 4th with our other needs and I imagine they'd just keep him and let him play out the season and take their comp pick when he walks next year before they'd take a 4th for him now. At least I would.

I think he was in the wrong system in Cleveland.  I wanted us to trade for him last season.  Better than anyone we could get past the 2nd round of this years draft.  Send em the 4th

Dorsey is killing the offseason, but one GIANT mistake was taking Ward over Chubb.  Never have enough elite pass rushers. Chubb looking like a HOFer in the making.

A proven vet is better then the hope of a 3rd or 4th round pick. We have a couple of those trying to make the team. 1 year, low cap hit and if he's good, he gets a good deal next year. We can still pick a DE in the 1st or 2nd round. But getting someone like him allows us to take maybe one of the top TE's if they fall or the 2nd or 3rd best OT if they fall, or trade out a get another pick. Its a low risk move. Won't happen, but I wish it would.

Pretty sure that we do. This year, that would have been $9,046,000 for a DE picked at #32. Figure in that his cap hit this year is $2.1 M, and we'd have a starting (or at least solid backup) DE for a 2 year deal for less than $12 M. I'd give up pick #154 for that, considering how rotational we are at DE. Hell, maybe even #115.

Edit: This in no way affects me picking a pass rusher in rounds 1 or 2. We need to pick up 2 DE's.
