Quick Reactions, Stats, & Pancakes from C Matt Paradis

So looking around twitter, seems a lot are excited about the addition of Matt Paradis. I haven't watched/followed him closely, so I'll let those who have do the talking as I compile these tweets down below:

Now, I'm not the biggest fan of PFF grades. Even then, I know some of you guys here acknowledge them, and they are a reputable source per say. Since I have no input on my own with these since I've never watched Paradis much, I'll let you guys be the judge on this one. But no matter how PFF came up with these grades, I'd assume it has to be a good thing that they have him rated so highly:

Quote

Including his injury-plagued 2018 season, Paradis has earned 74.0-plus overall grades in all four years he’s played in the NFL. He also earned a career-best 90.2 overall grade in 2016, which was largely propped up by his 90.0 run-blocking grade that season.

Paradis’ four-year grade (86.7) ranks 4th among the 29 centers with 2,000 or more snaps in the NFL since 2015. Only Travis Frederick (91.7), Alex Mack(91.7) and Jason Kelce (91.1) rank ahead of him in overall grade. Paradis also ranks fourth in run-blocking grade (85.0) and 10th in pass-blocking grade (82.3) on the list.

Looking at how his pass protection has improved in the last two years, Paradis’ 98.7 pass-blocking efficiency and 2.4% pressure allowed rank sixth and tied-for-sixth, respectively, among the 29 centers with 1,000 pass-blocking snaps in the last three years.

Not too shabby.

Continuing on, statistics in general are reliable since, after all, they're actual facts that can be verified. Here's some interesting statistics surrounding Paradis that I find intriguing:

That's impressive. Only 1.5 sacks in two years and only 5 pressures last season? I like that. Cam needs some solid protection and looks like Paradis will be providing that. An upgrade over an oft-injured aging Ryan Kalil for sure.

Now, for the film. Here's certain segments that stood out while trekking twitter:

I like what I see.

Overall, I think this is a fantastic signing. Good job Hurney.

Now just need to address OT, DE, and Safety

I'm meh on the OT class this year. It's got good middle round guys though, so maybe we'll take a gamble on grooming one for this year.

DE I hope is immediately addressed with the first round pick.

Safety I think will be addressed in FA. Way too big of a FA class to not take one.

We need to upgrade our LG and Bunchy Stallings is going to be a good late round pick. He plays like Norwell aka he has a very mean streak and pancake extraordinaire.

The OT class is okay, not great nor bad but I do like for us to use a mid round pick on Chuma Edoga as our future RT.

On defense, Khalen Saunders has stolen my heart. I love his film work, that dude can move like a LB at 320. Two words, explosive and violent.

Agreed on DE. Really hoping one of the studs drops to us, but regardless a bigtime name with still be there

I was really big on taking Bradbury, but I think Paradis will do nicely, plus he arrives with four years of experience and a reasonable price tag.

Good work by Marty on this one!

Looks like Paradis either pancakes his man or works on having a fight in a phone booth. Either works great.

Him and Tre are going to be nasty. Even keeping Moton at RT will allow protection to swing to kalil for good protection. If we have a chance at a good G or RT in the draft things get even better for Cam.

Had the same thought--worst case scenario--bring in a stud LG and help LT with TEs etc.  We can hide one weak link, not 2.
