Right and having 5 top 100 darts is way better than 3. There’s a reason why NE doesn’t pass up free picks. You say you don’t want to handicap yourself in the present but if you don’t start the process sometime you never will. As a fan, I care as much about 2020 and 2021 and having a strong young deep team where we lose even more talented players because we get more shots and more hits. If they were 5th or 6th rounders then sure, but you don’t give up top 100 picks for a mediocre safety. Paradis was a big step up from even Ryan of 2018. I’d trade a 3rd comp for him. Would you trade that pick for Boston? I wouldn’t.

There will be plenty of FA safeties left and Ron did say that safety was deep in draft. We don’t have much cap space at all although plugging C IMHO means we can let Kalil go and concentrate on just tackle in the draft.

I don't think Hurney and Rivera have that luxury. They better be in win now mode. And no, I would never pass on an opportunity to upgrade a position of weakness to protect a potential future comp pick.

Yeah, the Pats do a phenomenal job of roster management but honestly I think that's 4th or 5th on the list of reaosks why they've built their dynasty.

Not surprised by this but noteworthy.  I turned on NFL Network at 7pm for their "FA Special".  They spent first 10 minutes talking about Bell and Jets.  Then interviewed Jets beat reporter who downplayed the Barr back-out and then spoke about CJ Mosely.  Not a word about Paradis.

Signing the top rated center should be news, period.  But when you sign him from under the Jets with their huge bankroll you would expect a mention when they bring on the Jets beat reporter?

Now back from commercial break so Green Bay news should cover the next 15 minutes.

Our chances of getting a top tier edge rusher looks better after FA with both GB and Detroit signing edge rushers in FA.

Don't think for a second that teams that need edge rushers won't sign FAs *and* draft.  There are 3 premium positions in the NFL: QBs, LTs, and edge rushers.  The only one of those where you can use multiple players at that position is on the edge.
