Have you grown numb to our lack participation in free agency

I dont mind sitting out the crazy rush on FAs opening day. I am numb from the people running the team and the portion of the fan base that constantly props up their mediocrity. Of all the things I am ready for a change, going full stupid in FAs is not one of them. See last year and the pathetic attempt at signing players I wish we could dump this offseason. And please remember, we didnt sign Reid until Sercey had concussed his way out for the year.

aka the Carolina Panthers in free agency

Exactly. The same goes for fans of the Panthers.  But every other year we have a winning season. That is this year.

Yup.  I remember the good ol days when we were very active, but it seems now like we get handcuffed year after year by one or two terrible contracts.  Right now, Matt Kalil and Torrey Smith are combining to completely destroy any chance we have of being active in free agency...and we willingly gave Torrey Smith money.  SMFH man...

And every year all these teams that spend this money don't get too far either. If you notice every team with a 100M+ QB is pretty tame in FA, so you can't anticipate a lot of FA activity. Most of these teams spending at the onset of FA are teams with minimal talent soaking up the cap.

The outlier is IND, but it took them basically TWO losing seasons, and ONE without luck to,

1) Increase their cap

2) Nail last years draft and fixed the OL

To where now they have excess cap to spend in the market, but no team is going to willingly sacrifice 2 years to create that kind of room, it's why I'm annoyed we wasted that draft position so Kyle Allen could get a win.

You can say 9 to 16 isn't a big jumped, but that's waiting 7 spots across 7 rounds, that's 49 players if you look at the math from that perspective, that's a lot of missed opportunities to gain a meaningless victory.

Teams have to capitalize when their QB is out and the wins don't lead to a playoff berth.

Teams that spend big on day 1 tend to not fair well when it comes to the season. The Redskins would have 4 or 5 Super Bowls if it were just based off free agency.

The Panther's way of doing things doesn't win either. Also the skins beat us last year.

Much more so than free agency, I've become numb to us making really poor roster decisions in regards to players currently in the roster.

It seems like the big "winners" in free agency often don't translate to big winners on the field. Always gotta remember, every player that is available in free agency was allowed to get there by their former team. Their former team, the team that knew them the best, ultimately decided that they weren't worth the contract that they were going to command.

I mean, you can't get any more correct than this post. I suppose to appease the emotions of our message board fans, we could start spending more in FA for the same results (or worse) and in some way that's more satisfying?

It's funny, if you talk to fans of the Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Bucs, Washington Redskins, etc. that are known for big spending each year, they would say the same thing.

I'm cool with them not overpaying for guys like Matt Kalil or Dontari Poe

Although I'm worried the team has a lot of holes that can't possibly be filled in the draft

We'll see what happens. Unless Cam returns to MVP form for an entire season I don't see the Panthers making the playoffs next season

In the first week?

I'm okay with that.

I agree 100%. The way to build a team is through the draft.

I do not expect any news from us until maybe this weekend at the earliest.

Look for a C, DT, S, Nickel and maybe a G in free agency---No big dollar players.
