Could someone inform him that the season started 6 games before he got hurt?

if he is such a veteran presence and his game is so good when healthy, why in earth did he have one catch per game for the first 6 games?

look I do t have a problem with him on the team.  But for him to come out and lash back as though we mysteriously didnt see his his first 6 games of the season he can kiss my assss.

Fine.  Put it on the field.  Maybe at a little better ROI than 2.5 million per TD.

He played such a key role on that second one that his team couldn’t ship him out fast enough. They wouldn’t pay him 5M coming fresh off that ring. Last year. But we will. Hmmm.....which team is a little more successful lately?

Eagles won again?

Eagles could have used his help.

Why another thread on a guy we just gave 5 mil for being a wr coach.

Again. Since you dont listen or seem or read. He wasnt given anything. He has a 5 mill base salary that comes in weekly game checks. He can be cut at any future date in the off season and not be paid.

Facts do matter

Torrey Smith's confidence certainly didn't take a hit last season. He knows what he can do, and he isn't talking like someone who is feeling "shot" and "done" and all the other negative adjectives being associated with someone in the twilight of their career. And, honestly, he still should have at least a couple of good years left.

“I was starting to be involved and then I got hurt. When I’m healthy I can play – period,” Smith said. “I’m well respected by my opponents and I believe in my ability. People look at it and say, ‘He didn’t do anything all year.’ But for me man, I don’t really worry about that. I know the people in our locker room know I can play.”

He is also ready to accept the role of mentor, and is excited about D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel. He is also ready for more if it comes down to it.

“I’m fully capable of being the guy and fully capable of being a guy,” said Smith, who posted 17 receptions for 190 yards and two touchdowns last year. “I’m looking forward to continuing to guide and lead DJ and Curt. They are two very talented players and they’re going to be successful in this league for a long time. I’m also looking forward to competing and pushing everyone.”

No reason to make excuses if you don’t need to. But per the way he played last year he does. Sad.

Hopefully he can get open and actually catch the ball this year.

NFL players are shipped out all the time, particularly role players who are journeyman. It's just the nature of the business. It's hardly a reason to imply that a player has no value. That's up to a team each and every season. Situations change each year.

We would have likely been viewed just as "successful" as Philly lately if we had had better management, coaching, and less turnovers in XL. But, one thing about it, we easily could have handed that team an L that season but for a bad play or two by Cam. We actually did beat their asses last year, and Torry played a key part in that victory.

Bottom line, I don't think Eagles are all that more successful than the Panthers. With a healthy Cam last year, we'd have beat that ass in the postseason.

lol... come on...

they won the superbowl the year before last while we are spiraling downwards.

you seem to forget their starting QB has been injured the past two years and it didn't stop them from making the playoffs.

I understand why you think they're so much better. I really do. I'm just saying that when you think about it from a different perspective, taking everything into account, the only real difference is a very well played and coached Super Bowl, a very unfortunate injury to Cam Newton, and one of the best LTs in the game.

Foles plays like a starting QB in the NFL. Hell, some suspect that he may be better than Wentz, especially during primetime. You can't compare him to Heinike or Allen with a straight face.

If Cam had not been hurt and we had gone on to the playoffs (and as an aside, probably whipped the Eagles again), I don't think that the perception of us "spiraling downward" would even exist. There are still more than a few analysts and talking heads who consider us a talented team. The biggest question mark is Cam's shoulder, even amid the other needs that we have (particularly along both lines). I guess we'll see the upcoming season whether or not we're pretenders.
