I’d liken this class to 2011 where JJ Watt dropped to 11 and Cam Jordan was late 1st. That draft makes sad to see the next DT after Terrell McClain be 4 time pro-bowler Jurell Casey. Man, Hurney was awful from 2008 to 2012.

As bad as you could possibly be outside of Cam and Luke.

You are supposed to hit on 1 and 9 though.

I certainly hope so about talent falling....we just have to be able to catch it.

2011 looks like a really good one.

Agree that was pretty good.. I think this one is better just based on the amount of top level DT's with all the outside pass rushers.. I haven't seen this combo of both in 1 draft before..

My opinion always is to play to the strength of the draft depending on your position.. If it's a strong trench draft fix your trenches .. If it's a strong secondary draft (like last year) get some secondary pieces.. Don't try and play mismatch against the draft.. Hoping you find a talent because the position is weak in the draft.. When in reality if it was a stronger draft for that position that player would be rated lower..

I am of the same opinion. Over many drafts, if you draft to the strength you reach less and should get more value. I had a hard time with us selecting no OL last year. Made no sense as inside OL was the strength and we were losing Norwell and then Ryan this year and there were some good OT prospects late with Williams gone this year.

Agreed..

If we go C or OT in Round 1 I want to trade back and get an extra 2nd. Then take Reiser of Kansas State in the first, the DE from Texas in the second and either Jenkins or McCoy as our C in the second. I would hate it since we have the biggest need at DE but think that's the best bang for the buck.

Anyone touting our need to let the players win a meaningless game that sent us from 9 to 16 are seeing the folly of that decision. Hell yes we should have tanked. Its killing us now and meant nothing in the end.

How many times does it need to be said that teams don't tank games. It doesn't happen. We already played our third string quarterback and sat guys like Luke. No one does it so to keep talking about it is ridiculous and meaningless in itself

EDGE guys taken  from 9 - 15:

Marcus Davenport (#14, 2018), Derek Barnett (#14, 2017), Anthony Barr (#9, 2014), Bruce Irvin (#15, 2012), JJ Watt (#11, 2011), Robert Quinn (#14, 2011), Brandon Graham (#13, 2010), JPP (#15, 2010), Aaron Maybin (#11, 2009), Brian Orakpo (#15, 2009)

No EDGE players taken 9 - 15 during 4 of 10 drafts (2016, 2015, 2013, 2008).

The Saints tanked. End of story and it cost us big time.

That’s why I want Edge in round 1 and a RT in round 2.  Moton will be just fine at LT.

But this is Hurney and RR.  So our starting tackles could be Speedbump McGee and Moton.

Sign a C and draft a RT and our Oline is solid with a healthy Cam. Chances of Hurney doing that is probably .001%

No they didn't tank. They rested some players in anticipation of the playoffs.it was a test for Bridgewater and Allen. Bridgewater was the bigger name and they thought a coming out party for him in front of a home crowd audience which treats opposing QBs roughly. Allen outplayed him and our backups played better than theirs. There was no conspiracy or attempt to submarine our draft pick. The 16th pick wasn't going to the 9th pick unless Allen sucked. He didnt. His first game experience was very good. Who knew  Blame the Saints defense for that. And there were largely starters in there much of the day.

Montez Sweat perineal pro bowler. Bank it, the kid is going to be good and we could have had him. Just like we could have had a lot of other guys when we needed it but decided to either make the excuse that were "cap strapped". While the Saints and Rams just continue to build monster squads.
