Sam Amick: "Kemba More Likely To Leave Than Stay"

Hornets will offer Kemba a max deal. He'll either sign it at 12:01 am, July 1st, or not at all.

Whoever misses out on the Kyrie sweepstakes will go after Kemba next.

If the team offers a max to Kemba it will mean that this team will struggle with the cap and draft position for the next few years. It would be best for both sides if Kemba leaves. The Hornets need to rebuild and Kemba needs to compete for a championship in his prime.

Well, the Mavs have been effing us for the entirety of our reincarnation, so that wouldn't surprise me.  F Cuban.

Cuban is very very smart, and very very very wealthy.  Both are absolute must haves in order to successfully operate an NBA franchise.

The Mavs tried to ship us DSJ for Kemba earlier in the year and we declined.

Ultimately it will come down to whether or not Kemba wants to play off the ball or if he prefers to be a true point guard because Doncic will be their primary ball handler.

Did they?  I don't remember seeing that reported.  If it did happen, and Jordan did decline it....why?  What was the rationale behind declining that trade?

Good point on Doncic and him dominating that ball.  While DSJ was a bit of a problem child, which was surely a contributing factor, I do remember reading that a big motivation for moving him was the belief that he would not be willing to "play off the ball"...as you say.

Sounds like the best of all possible worlds for Kemba...play with Doncic, check...play with Porzingas, check...play for a brilliant & super wealthy owner, check...be in a position of not having to carry all the load all-night every-night, check.

I'm at a loss to figure out why Kemba wouldn't sign a contract with Cuban and the Mav's.

DSJ's name wasn't 100% reported but after he was traded to New York, most believe that he would have been the player included in the trade.

Kupchak told Dallas that they weren't going to trade Kemba because they believed they could re-sign him.
