Eh, I'd kinda like to forget him.  Had high hopes for him, seemed to have a swag, nose for the ball...just don't think he's going to stick. Was asked to play in some tough spots last year, but he was abused when he played and the Seattle game sticks out.

He's visited Buffalo and Cleveland as well.  Wake grad and former 1st rounder, but durability has always been the concern with him and was on IR for concussions last season.

EDIT: Johnson did have his 5th year option exercised but was released by the Texans and would not count against what are potentially high value compensatory picks (Williams and Funchess).

Yes I want him.  If he can stay healthy we could have a decent secondary along with some additional play from Cockrell. 

The best part about this is that he would not go against compensatory picks.  Williams and Funch could get us some extra 3-4 rd picks in the future.

Yikes. Injury prone is being kind. He's only played in 19 of a possible 48 regular season games over the past 3 seasons. Surely there has to be a better option for us than this.

It's not the concussions that ruined Johnson's career, it was the broken foot in 2016.

In the six games Johnson played in 2016 he graded out as a top 20 corner but ever since he broke his foot he hasn't been the same. Concussions have just compounded the problem for Johnson.

If he is signed the guaranteed money needs to be minimal.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing.  Once healthy he was not put back in lineup bc Kareem Jackson was playing well.  So those missed games is not all Bc of injury. He broke his foot and had anMCL sprain.  Last season was concussions.  

These are the kind of guys I like to take a chance on.  Low financial risk big reward kind of deals.  Not all of FA needs to be this way but a swing or 2 for the fences I can certainly get behind. 

Kind of like how Oher paid off for a couple seasons.  We need that right now with all of our holes.

I'm fine with giving him a shot, but it better be a really cheap deal and I hope we don't sign him and then act like the nickel problem is solved. History indicates this guy is highly likely to miss some games even if he wins the spot.

Agreed.  But right now we don’t know where Cockrell is recovery wise.  And we cut captain as we should have.  We need to bolster that unit a little more on the depth side.  Hell we are one injury away from having Corn and Doss start in the secondary.  Not so sure I would be comfortable with that.
