Yeah. Dead money next year is irrelevant because if the cap space. A lot of guys to resign but there’s a lot of room to play with. Especially considering it will either be a rookie QB or Bridgewater on a cheap deal.

Saints have built one of the youngest rosters in football and just went to the NFCC on the back of the defense and running game. This isn’t the 2011 Saints. It’s one of the top rosters in football.

Of course they have a young and talented roster but they are successful on the back of Drew Brees moreso than the defense or running game. Without Drew Brees, they are a middle of the pack NFL team. There are plenty of other teams loaded with talent that struggle mightily without good QB's. The Saints will not be successful without Drew Brees. It will take a big free agent signing or sucking real hard and drafting a new franchise QB to turn that around. The Panthers would be no different without Cam. Nor would almost any NFL team without their franchise QB.

The Saints window is largely going to be related to Drew. It's great to have all that young talent and a good core but most of it will also be due large contracts around the same period, so tough decisions will have to be made. The fact is that the Saints can win games without Michael Thomas, they can win games without Cameron Jordan, they can win games without Alvin Kamara, they can win games without most individual players on that team. Except Drew Brees. The Packers have assembled quite a talented roster this offseason, do you think they would be a threat to win games without Aaron Rodgers? Do you think New England would be a Super Bowl threat without Tom Brady(see 2008, the last time NE didn't win the AFC East)?

Success in this league largely revolves around elite QB's, that is just the way it is. So until New Orleans is able to replace Drew Brees with another franchise QB, it is pretty unlikely that you will see another Super Bowl. Just look at the past 20 Super Bowls and how many participants did not have a QB playing at a high level. Not many.

Some folks coveted him here but it doesn't look like he was ever under consideration.

I never understood why. He's just not very good. GB traded him for a reason and he's signing a one year prove it deal for that same reason. Refer back to the second sentence.

I think people have a tendency to judge safeties by highlight reel hits or interceptions.

There's a lot more to good safety play than those things, and even bad safeties sometimes get them.

More so because Of his pass defense, but he’s a guy that shys away from contact from time to time, so definitely understand the disinterest as well

i would sign him and still keep tory, why because competition in TC is what its all about. Vet experience,  best Wr core ever in franchise. moore nelson samuel then tory wright byrd

I might sign him in place of Torrey. Doubt I'd keep both of them.

Nelson has fallen off a pretty steep cliff in the last few years though. He's nowhere near what he used to be.

Byrd is gone, by the way.
