I'm not intentionally doing so. I was just thinking about it earlier when I made a post about missing pieces on defense. 

my thought process was this.

 

1. if Rivera and Hurney are on the hot seat, why make a defensive change that will take 2-3 years to see it come to fruition.

2. Tepper comes from the Steelers and wants long term success not the short term up and down history the Panthers are known for. 

3. Rivera is best known for defense, he's run both fronts successfully. Who better to oversee said above change. 

 

it makes me sad, but I think both are here at least through this transition.

I wish I could say that I was surprised or disappointed but watching this organization make bafflingly dumbass decisions has become the norm. It's expected. Carrying Torrey Smith at a $5M cap hit is indefensible when he should be no higher than #4 on the depth chart and that's assuming we add no one else at WR.

Calm down, if we lure in a fa we can cut him still and save the 5 mil, if not this is the backup plan

Isn't the salary only guaranteed if he's on the roster week 1? If that's the case, all they did was say you can stay for now, lets see what he does in camp.
