Ron Rivera will end up playing Torrey Smith over younger, better receivers who will suffer from not getting those snaps.

This is my biggest concern.  Finally got to see our young guns getting some quality playing time last season, I don't want them standing on the sidelines again this fall.

I would much rather end up paying Torrey Smith $5M to sit on the inactive list than to see him put up inactive list stats while taking snaps away from our better, younger WRs.

Well, hopefully some of these posters are right and Torrey ends up being a luxury that the Panthers can do without or he is cut and brought back at a more reasonable rate as the #4WR.

Lord knows Ron loves his vets to a fault.  Could easily see our younger guys riding the pine for this guy.

We're talking about a coaching staff that actually admitted they couldn't figure out a way to get their two best WRs on the field at the same time last season.

This staff just landed any imagination what so ever. They're hell-bent on trying to force everyone into a box and they can't see it any other way. You're an X or X or Z and that's it. It's why I'm not buying this hybrid D talk. I just don't see how that fits into our insistence on forcing guys into archaic, constrained roles.

At this point, fans just gotta accept that this franchise just does not care about winning. New ownership, ain't sh*t change.

ya'll act like you didn't see it coming...the whole brain trust was blindsided...lol

Why is everyone freaking out over a five million contract that can still be cut at anytime?

Right now Torrey Smith is the only proven downfield threat on the roster. We really didn't get to see him use his abilities last season as Cam was hurt, and then Torrey was injured.

I keep thinking to the first play of the Cincinnati game where Cam bombed the ball to Smith on the first play of game.  It was awesome, until smith dropped it.

Yeah, he's like Tedd Ginn, except for he's also known for drawing pass interference penalties.

I don't know, I don't think it's a big deal. If they cut Torrey, with Funchess and Byrd already leaving, they'll be down three receivers before the draft even starts.

Maybe I'm being too mindful of what happen in 2017 when practice squad players were starting by the end of the season.
