Garrett Bradbury interview on WFNZ

We'll pick him in the first round and two years down the road he'll be our All-Pro center and we'll think we were geniuses.

Until then, folks who know more about Madden than football will be cussing that we didn't draft a WR or DE. Just like they did when we drafted CMC.

Maybe and then we’ll likely look at the draft and see that it turned out to be Hurney special with no other starters to be found past the 1st. If I didn’t think McCoy and Jenkins would be there at 47, I’d think about Bradbury but his hype is way out of control. He was considered one of the top Cs but no better than the other two but somehow came out of the combine like a rose as if he’s guaranteed to be a multi-year All-Pro. McCoy put up great results as well.

I think there were signs before the Combine that he was going to be something special, and one that you can point to how well his QB Ryan Finley improved from the time he spent at Boise St. with his work at NC State. Good centers make for good QBs and while there is some difference in coaching (although Boise isn't that bad of a team), there was also a big jump in competition in the move to the ACC. Bradbury kept his giraffe-like QB clean and uninjured, something that didn't happen at his previous spot.

He also snagged the Rimington Award as the top center in the nation. That's not an easy thing to do with over 100 others competing for it. His work also netted him an All-American award from the AP and All-ACC recognition as well. That's not me saying he was best in show, but real evaluators doing so.

And not only is he a hometown favorite, he also performed incredibly well against another local group, the Clemson Tigers... a team whose DL is regularly posting top 10 draft picks in the draft.

Just sayin'.

Was Vernon butler or Ryan kalil a better pick?

we shouldn’t have taken a rb at 8 also, right?

talent is talent. You need it to win games.

This ×1000

If he is your stud center for the next 5 years its a win.  Listened to a NFL guy talk today how much more and more importance the interior OL is becoming.  Just look how much Norwell got paid last year.  Just look at the Colts with Ryan Kelly and Quenton Nelson, theyve completly turned things around.  With more snd more people focusing on getting more interior pressure and finding the guys like Aaron Donald.  Its just going to drive the price and value of those interior OL guys

If Sweat, Burns, and those edge rushers etc.  Along with Jonah Williams off the board.  I wouldn't even hesitate to draft him at 16.

Heck he is my top OL overall on my board followed by Linstrom and Jonah Williams

Pouncey just got 11m a season from Pitt.

Think about what a former 1st rounder (and all the freebie accolades that come with that for OL) is going to get at the end of this guy's contract. 75 million? Roughly, meaning you're only getting him for 1 contract. (Or at least you better only be.)

Alternatively, think of how many wins a "great" 1st round Center will add to my win total vs a "good" 2nd rounder. (The answer is 0.)

I believe Jenkins and Mccoy are neck in neck with him. DL getting all attention, but OL has solid top&mid tier talent too.

This. I'd be very happy with any of the three of them and I think there's very little chance all three will be gone by #47.

I concur. I see all three as day one plugin and play with little issues, outside normal rookie issues. Jenkins may be the best of the bunch, but Bradberry is the hot player on everyone's mind currently.

Billy Price was the 2017 Rimington trophy winner and unanimous All-American in 2017,  2nd team All-American in 2016 and lots more. He was terrible last year.

We need to stop guaranteeing he’s that good or that much better than the other first tier guys. NC State has had a ton of OL drafted recently. I like Bradbury a lot but he’s not solely responsible for Finley.

I honestly wouldn’t be mad with Bradbury at 16, but I do think it will make it much harder to have a great draft.

I'd suggest giving any player a second year before making a career decision on them. Perhaps that first year was bad, heck CMC's first season wasn't that great, but a lot happens between the rookie and second season for good players.

Honestly, I'm afraid Bradbury might not make it to our pick even. Hoping he does. And that NC State having a ton of OL drafted is actually a good indicator rather than something to brush off the guy's sucess with.
