The turning point

We were 8 points down when Moore fumbled, and there's no reason to just assume that we would have moved the ball downfield for another TD, much less get the 2 point conversion, which we aren't the best at! If you put yourself in position where a muffed punt late in the game kills any chance you have, then you haven't played very well, especially when you look at the numbers we had compared to them, and we still couldn't get any points! I thought our offense would be a strength this year, so far, it's the defense that is showing real promise, but when the offense and special teams directly contribute to so many of the other team's points, you ain't gonna go far!

This....

Although Kasay has done it for us many times in the past, I think it is foolish to depend on your kicker to win games. The offense has to at least keep it close before you can start blaming missed FG's for a loss...

If Kasay hits both the field goals, we wouldn't have gone for the 4th and 1. We would have kicked another to go up by 4. That changes the game and puts the onus on them instead of us to catch up. The three picks were awful but the missed kicks changed the game immensely and were the catalyst. Of the 2 picks the first was bad but the second was devastating as it put us in a big hole.

For those who say the first pick was the turning point, if we hit the field goals we are ahead.

I haven't seen anybody calling the muffed kick the turning point. The turning point was the first INT that led to the TD.

That is exactly right.I was sitting in section 132 behind the Panthers bench and by the players expressions coming off the field they looked as if they were thinking,"here we go again".

i just want to point out that they went on to the field in a goal line formation, jake isn't a threat to make a play action pass, and after they gave buffalo time to put their RZ Stop personnel on the field, they ran it off the split end (the one without a tight end blocking) and immediately ran into two rushers.

poor play selection, poor execution, poor coaching

To clarify for a few responses...

I'm never a believer that one play or one player wins or loses a game alone. There are plenty of plays that affected the outcome yesterday one way or another.

The reason I say "turning point" here is that that play was when I became certain that we were going to lose.

    • You realize the Commanders and Texans both had trash rosters. That's how they ended up with the #2 pick.   How all of sudden they go from bottom feeders to a playoff team the following season?   I think you don't realize the true impact of a franchise QB. It's crazy people still trying to debate the value of the QB position.   Y'all living in the 90's football isn't played that way anymore. The Baltimore Ravens dominate defense won in a different era. This is a QB era. You can't hit them like you could in the past. The rules have changed in favor of the QB.   Look at the elite teams in the league they all have elite QBs. Without the QB your franchise is going nowhere.   7 years under Tepper and fans still haven't realized this. Well keep ignoring the QB position and we will keep sucking. It's really that simple.
    • He needs to retire. His short stint returning to play for us showed Ho bad his shoulder had degraded.  No team is going to sign him. As soon as he retires the celebration of his career can begin.
    • The recipe over the last 5 years: 1. draft a guy with high athletic ability at a position of need.  2. play him out of his natural position because you have a big hole to fill. 3. watch him struggle.  4. let a young and promising talent grow depressed and apathetic because a God forsaken franchise is ruining what he has busted his ass his entire life to achieve.  The only reason Luke moved to the middle was because Beason got hurt. Think about that. It’s complete arrogance of the coaching staff to tell a player where he’s better suited… or the mark of a desperate team who drafts out of need.    This is what happens to teams that draft poorly and have no depth. Constantly working from behind and drafting for need.
