I guess we will look for a starter in FA or the draft. Garrett Bradbury could also be in play now. I agree that we should look for a starter elsewhere, as we would take a step back with Larsen starting. He is a good depth piece, but would be a downgrade from Kalil. We must improve center and left tackle to protect Cam. If we sign a productive starting DE in free agency and draft another in round 2-3 I would be fine with drafting Bradbury in the first. Thoughts?

There are three really good center prospects in this draft. The chances all three of them will be gone by #47 is slim to none.

If it wasn't for me preferring the top centers, I would say that OG is a bigger need than C. I think Larsen is a solid stopgap. Better than Van Roten at LG. I honestly think the only reason we didn't play Larsen at LG is because we half expected Ryan to get hurt and for Larsen to have to step in at C and they didn't want to have to cause a disruption of chemistry at two spots due to one injury.

I expect him and Rivera are on short leashes already after this season

 

Center- we literally just lost our 12 year, former all-pro center.  Those arent easy to replace.

Edge Rusher- not only are we going to a new scheme where we have to plug people differently.  We had one of the worst groups in the enite NFL last year.  Ask Giants fans, who's QB got a break from his weekly Beating he took after we couldn't even touch him.  Our returning DE's had a combined 11 sacks last year between the 4 of them.  Edge rushers are some of the hardest to sign in FA as they normally sre held onto (see all the franchise tags this year)  just a avg starting DE goes for 14-15 mil a year in todays market with top one creeping above 18 mil a year and QB money

 

OT- our QB is beast coming off injury tl the same throwing shoulder thats been injured.  If he is not protected this season, it may be the end of a era

 

Realistically your only going to fix those in rds 1-2

 

Oh yeah and we still dont have a centerfielder as well at FS.

We still has a temporary patch at LG after the huge hole Norwell left.

 

We have no backup QB to our injured QB (no Kyle Allens 1 game vs Saints #2s isnt enough to crown him)

I just don't see how you don't go after paradise and pay him. You have a need at Both RT,C, and DE and C would be cheaper than the other two. We are in rebuild mode anyway so might as well try to draft a RT or DE with Kalil still around.

I don't really want him at 16 but if we could move back into the 20s, then yeah. I think that's what we should do. If we're going with the youth movement (which I think we should) then we need some extra picks.

I'll take OT in the 1st, DE in the 2nd, C in the 3rd (which we can still get a good guy) and then an extra DT or FS later in the 3rd. OT is the biggest priority as there are move DE's available in FA then OT. Not many centers available either.

The year Kalil was injured we didn’t see much of a drop off, but when healthy, Kalil was starting last year for a reason.

Starting at #47, I'm all for adding interior OL. We could use an upgrade at both LG or C. Play Larsen at whichever doesn't get upgraded. He's better than Van Roten. Ideally we can address both and use Larsen as a versatile backup.

For FA I want a cheap S and DE Flowers. We cant go into the season with no experience or talent. Take our first 4 picks and get a DE, C, OT and DT. Find depth on OL rounds 4 and up. This isnt going to be a one year fix.

This. Sick of nc state homers saying bradbury at 16. There’s a reason he goes late first in mocks. Grab a different center at 47, idc. Need to go Ferrell or one of the tackles at 16. Center is the one position we have a reliable backup at (Larsen). It’s not a pressing need and Bradbury isn’t quinton Nelson just bc he went to nc state
