Jourdan Rodrigue does not believe we are getting rid of Tory Smith

One would assume it would be an easy way to free up 5 million for a cap strapped team, however we do need insurance/vet leader in case DJ or Samuel goes down. We will have to see the contracts coming up in free agency to see if that’s a good decision or not. Thoughts?

The dude literally collected free paychecks and pitched a political agenda last season. He can coach or work in the FO.

If I'm Hurney that's what I'm telling Ron. There's no way I can let this guy hit me for $5M against the cap. No way. He can either take a huge paycut or you can try to offer him a position on your staff. That's it. He's not sticking on this roster at $5M.

Like i said last off season Torrey Smith is not a #1 Wr

his best days are behind him

He was never the guy the Panthers needed

#1? Torrey Smith should be no higher than #4 on the depth chart and how often do we field more than three WRs? When we got 4+ wide, it usually involves CMC and/or a TE splitting out wide.

I totally agree

just going back to last off season when the huddle was so excited to have Smith has the "#1" play making Wr

There's no point in letting him go until we find another WR who could play outside in case of injury.

And I know people love Samuel and everything, and I do too, but he only has half a season of work and hasn't been healthy for a full 16 game season yet.  The smart move is to keep Torrey Smith until we find another outside receiver we can groom.

Relax, guys.

Yeah, I never understood anyone talking about him as a #1. I saw him as insurance in case Moore wasn't ready to go from day one which he provided. Unfortunately, because Ron is Ron, Smith's presence on the roster kept Samuel off the field far too often earlier in the season. I was just fine with the trade because I was plenty ready to move on from Worley.

The Eagles were going to cut him last year before we traded for him. Coming off a SB and a decent season. Yet we are going to keep him....TWICE. And after an injury-filled season.

I’m getting a bad feeling about another contract.
