Im not saying we should sign those players, I was just throwing out quality players who will cost a lot of money.

I'll be very surprised if Thomas and/or Weddle get a lot of money. The FA S market was basically dead last season and there's a deep list of safeties available this year. I expect Thomas to probably sign a short-term incentive laden deal that will pay him like an elite safety if he stays healthy and plays well but will protect the team if he doesn't. I expect Weddle to sign a contract reflective of being a 34 year old safety. Honestly, I'd be interested in either of them with the appropriate contract.

Again where are the facts to prove Hurney sucks this time around. You presented no facts at all. Just your half baked opinion. Do you know what a fact is?

Now on to this topic.

Facts.

Hurney made the wrong call on the kicker, as many on this board predicted he would do.  It was a bad call then, and looks positively awful now.

Hurney extend Olsen when he absolutely did not have to.

Hurney traded for Smith with a 5M cap hit when the Eagles were all but screaming that they were going to cut him for cap savings.

Hurney signed Poe in the offseason, extended Gano, and kept Smith on the roster...if none of those were done we could have almost covered to cost of keeping Star and Norwell.

Hurney knew we were shooting for one last run in 2018 by keeping TD, Kalil, Peppers, etc...on the roster, but didn't think to have a capable backup QB on the roster when Cam Newton was clearly hurt, was approaching 30, and is a battering ram.

I can go on and on, but there are a few facts for you to get started.

I never said Weedle will get a lot of money. I said Thomas would.

Thomas will for sure get paid well.

Would not surprise me if Thomas gets the biggest per season deal.  May be a short deal but he will get paid.

Not even trying to defend Hurney but half of these are inaccurate as hell.

the kicker situation is the most over blown situation on this board. Not a pivotal decision that caused a drastic change in W/L

did you see what wrs got paid last year in fa? We dropped a failing Cb for a vet WR, I’d take smith over Worley.

saying to sign back norwell and star is hindsight 20/20, granted norwell future was decide after signing Kalil and giving Turner his contract. Wasn’t a need to invest that much money into guards and a bummy T.

We haven’t had a compentent backup since cam   has been drafted.

There is fault in hurney but some of this is just inaccurate and dishonest

Weddle has been an all around great safety for most of his career, excelling in both coverage and run support like an Earl Thomas. However, last year he had a fairly significant drop off in coverage while remaining great in run support. He had 3 PD and no picks in 16 starts last year after having a combined 10 picks and 21 PD the previous 2 years. We need a safety capable of playing center field in coverage, not another one who at this point in his career should be closer to the LoS like Reid.

I really feel we can grab a FS with our 2nd round pick that would be a 1st any other year. This is a deep sideline to sideline class with day 1 starters. I love adderly, chauncey gardner Jr, d. Thompson and Juan thornhill. My favorite is adderly with no other order to the rest. No need to spend the cap I agree with you!

Really. When is the last time he was even league average.

And if he was out of position last year,, what is going to change? He’s still going to have to play single high some and get abused. So we signed a safety who is limited, when there are so many available that are not.

Thinking everything the organization does is the right thing is an agenda. Just like any other. Just because you disagree doesn’t mean your view is not biased.

It's his thing.

He champions unpopular players and moves so he can act like he's smarter than everybody else.

He was Mike Shula's biggest fan until he was fired, then suddenly he acted like he never supported him.

Ok.  That was easy.  We can compare the salaries and contract construction once free agency has passed and see if we made a mistake as I contend, or didn't as you contend.

Again after this season we can compare him to other strong safeties who were free agents based on production and salary. Fair enough.

The folks I champion are unpopular because you and your groupies trash every thread with Rivera and Hurney suck posts. Rivera is popular among many Panthers fans and is generally considered top 10 outside of here according to most pundits. I claim no great knowledge or insider info, I am simply a fan. And as I said tons of times, Shula could be good with the right players to fit his system. But he was never great. It is your MO to make exaggerated comparisons claiming folks said things they never did so you can appear to be correct. Frankly you seem to be a huge troll on here constantly acting as if your opinion is always right and anyone who disagrees is a troll.

Exactly. The dislike for him the first time which I shared as well has blinded folks to the reality of his second time here. Plus the MO of these critics is to make exaggerated comments using half baked comments stating opinion as fact and then acting as if anyone who disagrees is crazy or a troll.

Just a troll. No meaningful contribution.
