Steve Smith's redemption...

Mr. Scot

...had little or nothing to do with the catches that he made yesterday.

His redeeming moment came when he went over to an absolutely distraught Kenny Moore and tried to comfort him.

That moment did more to elevate Steve Smith than anything he did on the field.

agreed...people might dog on smith but he is a leader..albeit a crybaby, but he is a leader and still is the most explosive player on the team.

I saw that also. I could just imagine how horrible Moore felt. Smitty went right to him when he got off the field.

yep...can jake take his c off his jersey and give it to steve.

I don't think anyone on this board is happy with Delhomme's play this season, but this statement is just ridiculous. First, I'd be willing to bet most of the players on the team respect Jake as a captain and as a leader. Secondly, I don't know what kind of message it would send to a team if we made captain a man who had punched two of his teammates.

I know those two actions don't define Smith and he's a better teammate than that, but making him a captain would be a mockery of the captain badge.

Not to mention it's the players who vote on the captains.

statement not ridiculous. first off, nobody on this team believes in this guy anymore and it shows more and more each game.and what kind of message would it send to your team if you make a guy who wanted out of town a captain, who gives a f**k. this poo is about politics and steve punching 2 teammates means nothing. not to mention if he was such a cancer he would have been let go or traded years ago....this guy is stand up and im pretty sure others would ride out with smitty.
