Chiefs listening to trade offers for Dee Ford?

They liked all the picks Gruden got for Mack so they trying to do the same thing.

Getting good production out of draft picks instead of cap sucking contracts to 5-6 guys is much smarter— the Patriots price that again and again.

Im starting to think you are allergic to good players. Bro if you want good players they are going to cost money. And stop saying we can't afford players. We can afford them, it's called making cuts and managing the cap to fit players in. Saints do it every year, why can't we?

Saints have been terrible every year they did that, despite having a HoF QB. They got good recently with a home run draft in 2017. Key to winning is good drafting and finding free agents at good values. Not overpaying on the market for "top talents."

I think Ford is more of a straight pass rusher.

I know there is talk of us switching to a 3-4 d, but at this point, its mostly talk.  Ford is very small for a DE, so If we don't switch, or only do a partial switch, we are looking at paying someone a lot of money who is not a good fit for our style of play.

Meanwhile, the Raiders went 4-12 while the Bears went 12-4.

The biggest advantage that the Patriots enjoy (even bigger than there consistently pathetic division) is that their all-time great QB is married to a supermodel worth even more than he is so he gives them a very cap friendly deal (he 's the 16th highest paid QB in the NFL) so that they can put a team around him.  They basically get to pay an all-time great like, he's Ryan Tannehill or Case Keenum. Unreal competitive advantage.

Yep. That and they constantly let players walk or trade them for picks when they can,.. and then replace their productivity with someone else. Few do that.

Gruden tanked his team for all the picks in the world this year. The pressure is on him now to deliver that team to greatness for all the crazy dumping.

the bears are just a mentality from winning— did it but they don’t have a closer mentality right now— most that are used to losing don’t.

Thats why I think bringing in players that have a closer mentality and coaches with a closer mentality to get the team culture changed is the most important change anyone can do.

Ford has only played up to his potential in his money year.

His first two years in the league, he played behind two veteran starters at his position (Justin Houston and Tamba Hali).  After 2 games in 2016, KC finally cut bait with Hali and Ford became a full-time starter, getting 10 sacks in 14 games started.

In 2017 he was out 10 full games with injury and parts of others so, no, he didn't have a great 2017.  Injury does that.

In 2018, as a healthy full-year starter, he got 13 sacks.

Which is to say, in summation, that what you claim above isn't even close to being true.

The primary reason that Carolina should avoid Ford is because of his size.  He's a 3-4 OLB and would be a disaster at 4-3 DE.  Unless we are going to a near full-time 3-4 set, Ford isn't worth the trade or the contract.

However, if we ARE going to a near full-time 3-4 set, he's likely easily worth the trade and every penny of what you would sign him for.

I would look at it like could we spend a 2nd on a guy in the draft and get them for 4 years on a rookie contract? Seems like a solid bet this year. I'm not even sure we are running any 3-4 anytime soon so it's hard to get too excited by guys not in the 4-3 mold till we actually prove we are changing schemes. Which may not come till FA or even the draft.
