No. Forget Thompson. That will have to play out with the Panthers either extending him to reduce the cap hit, living with the 9M or just releasing him.

The idea is that the Panthers are sitting in a draft position likely to land a quality LB. KC now has a need at LB and could use the two 2nd round picks (and their 1st) to trade for the Panthers 16th pick in order to fill that need.

With the draft as deep as it is, it might be worth it to trade back.

if they go with this 3-4 mix he should see a lot of time at his natural ILB position.

so this apparently hasn't actually happened yet and nobody is even positive it will.

 

If it does the panthers need to be all over it before FA kicks off.
