Out of curiosity, if the draft fell like this we would have our pick between:

DEs: Sweat, Ferrell

DT: Ed Oliver

T: Jonah Williams & Cody Ford

C: Bradbury

Who would you pick? Also, did the combine influence your pick?

I'd be fine with Sweat or Ferrell. I honestly haven't decided which I prefer over the other.

If Oliver is there, I'd be worried. The top teams have to be doing a lot of digging on him and if they found stuff that made them pass I'd be concerned. He was considered a potential #1 overall pick for much of the season.

Some on this board, for over a decade, have lost their collective minds hoping we draft a solid DE or EDGE in the first.

Anyone remember Derrick Harvey?

If it plays out like this:

You take Oliver and never look back.

He's a game changer. Nobody else on that list is.

Exactly what I’m scared of with him. A stud or a tweener with motor issues?

We move back 7 spots in every round, not just the 1st.

At the end of the day, we lost the cumulative draft pick value of an early 2nd round pick for nothing in return.

Not giving Hurney the equivalent of a 2nd round pick, given his history up until last season, doesn't necessarily sound like a bad thing :Eyes_Emoji_42x42:

That cumulative value also isn't necessarily accurate, as teams have their own individual trade value charts which also fluctuate every year depending on the draft class. Nobody is awarded a pick based on cumulative value either.

The fact that folks here were actually proposing to purposefully lose the final game for better gambling odds is ridiculous to me. Absolutely none of the people proposing this would have the fortitude to walk up to TD, Peppers, and Ryan Kalil in order to tell them "Hey guys, I know this your last season as a player (or as a Panther, in TD's case), but we're going to sit y'all and put in our worst possible player combinations so that we get to pick our lucky lotto numbers seven spots earlier in line."

That's without even getting into the financial complications that could arise. If the Panthers are 2-6, most people aren't going to come and spend money at the games already. Now complicate that further by making it common knowledge that there won't be an effort to do any better that season? The Browns were barely breaking 60k in attendance in 2017 when in '83 they were averaging 70k. David Tepper is not about to sacrifice 10k tickets/game for more choices to guess from who the best college player available is for the Panthers.

I mean, I'm gonna manscape so that nobody has to worry about picking their teeth. I'm not a savage! :liar: yes i am

We land Sweat at 16 in this mock.  With a prospect blowing out the combine we are sure to land a great prospect at 16.

I personally have Sweat as my pick at 16 if he falls that far.  I also think Bradbury Center from NC State has to be in consideration there as well.

I believe we will have our pick at a top tier Offensive line, pass rusher, or LB at 16.

I seriously doubt after his combine performance Sweat will be there, but Bradbury might, or Ferrell or Bush or Oliver, all would be great additions but which is going to have the greatest impact? I'll bet Bush would.

The point is that a high draft pick is a consolation prize for teams that finish poorly not the desired outcomeor something to tank games to accomplish. We did lose 7 games primarily due to Newton's injury. Hardly anyone's fault.

We will lose out on 2-3 better DE prospects by falling 7 spots and in general more options.

Do you give that up for a win vs. third string Saints?

The logical answer is fug no. The emotional fan wanting to feel good about something says yes.

Payton wasn’t going to win that game, he knows he jabbed us and knows as a coach it’d be hard for Rivera, a do the right thing coach ala anti Payton anti bellicheck, to tell guys fighting for a job to basically lose. And I can agree with that part.

But in the end let’s recognize this and the fact that remains, it would have helped to lose that game instead of some feel good, it doesn’t matter where we draft-it’s al the same bullshit. I’ll take a consolation prize since as stated...we already tanked at that point.

Been getting a lot of hate for my stance on Ferrell. Fact is have you really heard anyone clamouring sayin he’s a cant miss prospect? He’s just a guy. This mock has him falling to 24 and at that point I would be fine with him. He isn’t going to revolutionize the pass rush and that’s what we need. Our best rusher is 31 and then there is no one. I don’t want a average guy for that job.

Sweat has the potential to change the Pass Rush game for the panthers.. I think at where we are picking the best we can hope for is Sweat but chances are he isn’t there but, I’m prepared to move up slightly to ensure that future. If not then I don’t settle for the 4th-5th best edge in the first. I go get the best Tackle guard or Corner.
