Some notes from my source involving the NFL draft

There seems to be zero consensus about who are the top DBs in this draft.

I've seen Ya-Sin, Murphy and Baker as first cb off the board at 20 to the Steelers in like 20 different mocks.... All seems to be split among the mocks. I think Ya-Sin is first off at 20 to the Steelers.... Who knows. Lol

So is our pick Sweat, Burns or Wilkins? Are any left at 16?

If Sweat is there and there are no health concerns, we run the card up. Wilkins too. Otherwise I see offensive line.

Don’t get me going on Reid and Crosby. Those two instead of Gaulden and Haynes and we have an unbelievable draft and don’t “have” to have a tackle and don’t “have” to take a safety. We could do whatever is truly BPA. Heck we could have fixed the DL and got a LG/OL depth so easily.

But wait.....who could have seen that coming? LOL. That is some low hanging fruit for either one of us to get fired up.

Doubt it will be super accurate, but here you go:

My one and only mock draft:
1. Cardinals: Kyler Murray, QB, OKL
2. 49ers: Joey Bosa, DE, OHST
3. Jets: Quinnen Williams, DT, ALA
4. Falcons trade up: Ed Oliver, DT, HOU
5. Buccaneers: Devin White, LB, LSU
6. Giants: Daniel Jones, QB, DUK
7. Jaguars: Jonah Williams, T, ALA
8. Lions: Josh Allen, DE, KEN
9. Bills: Christian Wilkins, DT, CLE
10. Broncos: Devin Bush, LB, MICH
11. Bengals: Andre Dillard, T, WASST
12. Packers: TJ Hockenson, TE, IOW
13. Dolphins: Jawaan Taylor, T, FLO
14. Raiders: Brian Burns, DE, FLOST
15. Redskins: Dwayne Haskins, QB, OHST
16. Panthers: Greg Little, T, OLEM
17. Giants: Rashan Gary, DE, MICH
18. Vikings: Garrett Bradbury, C, NCST
19. Titans: Hollywood Brown, WR, OKL
20. Steelers: Byron Murphy, CB, WAS
21. Seahawks: Jeffery Simmons, DT, MSST
22. Ravens: DK Metcalf, WR, OLEMS
23. Texans: Cody Ford, T, OKL
24. Raiders: Josh Jacobs, RB, ALA
25. Eagles: Dexter Lawrence, DT, CLE
26. Colts: Montez Sweat, DE, MSST
27. Raiders: Christ Lindstrom, G, BOSC
28. Chargers: Kaleb McGary, T, WAS
29. Broncos trade up: Drew Lock, QB, MISS
30. Packers: Tytus Howard, T, ALAST
31. Rams: Jonathan Abram, S, MSST
32. Patriots: Clelin Ferrell, DE, CLE

5 out of 8 so far, not bad. Wish I would have stuck to Hockenson to Lions like I noted earlier. Raiders picking Clelin is just dumb.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
