Some notes from my source involving the NFL draft

Out of the top OL, Little scares me the most. He looked like Eric Flowers trying to move and doing an awful job at. I would take a gamble on the 2nd tho...

OL in the first is cause the DL dropoff in the second round is far less than OL.

I don’t know him real well, but he’s in the day 3 right tackle mode guys who I’d rather have along with a DE in round 1. I don’t remember him standing out to me at the combine/Senior Bowl. He did get the practice player of the week, which with all the OL talent there is a good thing. I think he’s behind guys like Howard, McGary and Risner who are early day 2 guys.

I was thinking comp pick if everything else fell through. Nothing in a tier with any of those players or that early. I didn’t see enough to get a good read on him. And it’s hard to judge OL in that conference.

 Was searching for another Tyrell...LOL.

Added this to the original post:
***Final predictions****
Andre Dillard either goes to Bengals or Bills
Kyler Murray goes #1
Daniel Jones either goes at 6 to NYG or they trade up to get him
Hollywood Brown is the first receiver taken
Jonah Williams goes in the top 10
At least five offensive lineman in the top 20
TJ Hockenson in the top 12, probably to the Lions
Denver passes on a QB for a LB
Redskins trade up for Haskins, Lock, or Jones
Only one safety in the first round
Greedy Williams falls out of the first

Still feel confident about all of these too

So is our pick Sweat, Burns or Wilkins? Are any left at 16?

I think Sweat is a huge question mark with us right now. We took Star when he fell with a heart condition, but that was a different GM and owner. Did we show much pre draft interest in Sweat? After his combine we probably never thought he'd be there at 16. What about today's news? Does that change the eval on him? Would be really intrigued to see what we'd do if he fell to 16

Sweat met with the Panthers at his pro day, and also had another private visit.

We've shown significant interest in both Sweat and Burns.

Even after the heart condition?

I hear if Burns is there we are taking him

I dont think much is known about who is or isn't interested in him after the heart condition was reported, I mean..it was reported no more than a week ago right?

Which is why Greedy Williams could very well be the pick. If the best DB in the draft is on the board at 16 you take him. Especially if the edge rushers are off the board.

Seems like teams don’t think as highly of him as media and fans.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
