Some notes from my source involving the NFL draft

Yeh, if we take a guy like Savage or Murphy it would be the biggest benefit to get a Patriots type of guy that can play FS and CB.

While other exhausting threads are all for us taking OL or DL 16, it wouldn’t be the end of the world to get a badass ball hawk FS/CB there.  If Savage can play both better or equal to Adderly at both positions then I wouldn’t jump off a bridge for the 16 pick like many would— 47 would be much more comfortable but as you said, the dual position guys will be gone

im still in the drop back for another 2nd rounder thoughts. Even for my biggest wants like Taylor(I know you hate em, just saying) dropping to 16, that might would give us the best chance to drop back for a good 2nd.

then maybe we can get 2 picks in the 20s trading back up.

It wouldn’t be awful at all. Just not one of my top options. But I would hope we tried everything to trade back as you suggested.

I don’t hate Taylor. If we signed a different safety than Reid, he(and Abram) would be right there. We need to keep Reid in the box and closer to the LOS as much as possible. It’s where he excels. Just don’t see those two as the single high safety that is years overdue.

Now that’d be scarier... saw where Gregg Williams spent a lot of time with him. Hopefully the Jets take him and keep that from being an option

I honestly think he doesn't fall past the Giants if he's still there.  So Falcons will have to move up to 6, or maybe even 5 if the Giants would rather take Oliver than to trade down.

Right, I know DE is our biggest need, and I’ve said a bunch that 2 DE or OLB would be great in this draft.

with that being said, Daryl is on his way to being an Otah, even if he does hold up this year he’s going to want big money and if we had Taylor, Jonah or Ford he can go suck an egg. I think he won’t hold up and that would be catastrophic if we don’t have someone that can plug as a starter.

If we did drop back and take DE and FS/CB then I’m ok with Risner or Little in the 2nd to do that—

I do put FS/CB in there with our biggest needs— people may disagree but our secondary is below average at best,.. and the 2nd best way to help a passrush is to make the Coverage 100% better.

That’s rambling sorry

I think DWs future is tied to how well Moton plays at LT, if that happens at all. If Moton can handle LT, then DW can walk. It’s much easier to find effective RTs in the draft. Like this year. If we had a solid LT option and needed a RT, my value on these OL changes dramatically. I can see any of the top guys being effective day one at RT(except maybe Dillard- who probably has the best chance of being a good LT).

Ed Oliver is a monster— before he really shot up the boards and he was a teens projection I was sure he would be the clear BPA if he did drop to 16,..

he had better go to Oakland or something

Right, I’ve seen Taylor, Jonah and Ford as the best options as they can plug into guard and right tackle right away and have a great chance to be good left tackles when that need arrives.

Dillard does have all the right skills with feet and athleticism for left tackle and most certainly has played there and is the only true “left tackle”in the first round.

with that being said, he scares me almost as much as Burns and Gary. His scouting reports and writeups and film all say the same thing— great feet, slides great, natural finesse guy— has no strength, gets pushed back easily, pancaked at will.

burns writeups and highlights say that too— Gary is just Gary, another story altogether but at least he’s got the strength and metrics to do whatever he wants— and that ls the question— what does that guy really want? Is he a Clowney and just used all wrong or is he a lazy POS— just don’t know.

i agree RT is much easier to find—McGary Risner and Little and Tytus Howard even would really help there. People also like Bobby Evans but I know squat about him or Edoga or Isaiah Prince or most of the late round guys.

Gary is a tough call. With just a little technique added to that skill set could be nuclear. Some martial arts training would be a good start.

Edoga is someone I noticed during the SR. Bowl. After watching some more he has potential. Even possibly at LT. I thought about him at 115, but it sounds like the secret is out. If they think he can start at LG, He would be a great value. Good call.

If we did go OL in the first, you could look at someone like Texas DE Charles Omenihu in the 2nd or maybe even 3rd. I really liked what I saw from him at the Senior Bowl.

If we don't picked a pass rusher until the third round, a lot of people are going to be piiiiiiissed.

The safety I wanted last year (Justin Reid, still pissed we wasted a 3rd on Gaulden and didn't trade up for Reid who went at the start of the 3rd), pancaked Dillard on a pass rush. Yep, a 200 pound safety pancaked him. He had terrible tape at the Senior Bowl and practices. I still don't get all the good vibes from there on Dillard based on what I saw. I think it was the same, he's got LT quickness at the combine stuff, but ignoring the plays he got destroyed.

Yeh I agree.

if the panthers do take Dillard or anyone in the first round,.. I won’t lose it. Hurney always has first round winner picks, so I’ll trust in that.

if Dillard Burns or Gary are the pick at 16, I will deal with it and trust Hurney that whatever we saw in them can be fixed or schemes away.
