Some notes from my source involving the NFL draft

Scary because her mock has it banking on Winovich being there in the 2nd and Savage in the 3rd.

Dont see either being there.  And while this edge class is Strong, its top heavy and not deep like OT.  So the dropoff after Winovich is significant

We could be severely hurting on defense this up coming season and making things going into next offseason interesting as Haynes will be the only Edge guy under contract. Out of the current guys

Yeah, I didnt mind the idea of taking an OT with the first pick at the end of the season, but after how FA has played out, I'm now edge or bust.  After that rush on edge guys in the first 15-20 picks, any guys like Winovich are gonna go a lot earlier than projected.  If we were able to get Winovich in the 2nd, I would be ecstatic, but I'm with you...  I'm 99% sure he won't be there, so we have to go edge in the first.

Jordan Rodrigue's mock just kind of confirms what I've been saying, oline or bust in rd 1. Dillard/Ford/Little, whoever is there.

Funny how you added Little to that top group again when she definitely didn't mention him being anywhere in that group..smh

Hey this guy don't know. This is the most uncertain I've been for a panthers draft in a couple years. I would be very surprised if we got OL rd 1. After working on offense in FA, u have to get the defense better. I really think Sweat is going to get to us. I think people don't want it to happen but I think we are going after Grier in second.

I'm fine with that. Again, taking an O-lineman would not only solidify our line but health permitting, turn it into one of the leagues strongest.

She only mentioned Ford and then went on to explain how we were looking at offensive lineman, which is what I have been saying. I don't know why you aren't comprehending this stuff :/

Yay..smh....that reading comprehension thing won't work with me.. I know she didn't mention any other OT .. I was talking about you being self serving by adding or attaching "your" opinion on a singular player to a general point.. I don't understand why "you're " doing this.. Trying to add some validation or achieve a self pat on the back to your internet persona ... I guess ???.. But reality is..

The whole idea of drafting a quality "1st round" prospect OT is understood and has alot of mertis. You constantly adding Little to that  list of players based on your opinion when he clearly isn't by most others is where you keep going wrong...

Zach Allen is just a name. He looked awful at the Senior Bowl. A first round DE who can’t pressure the QB? I wouldn’t want him at 47 based on what I saw and there were decent OL at the Senior Bowl so he was going against real NFL talent. There’s been Senior Bowls before with awful OL, but this was decent OL and he was stonewalled every play.

Agree with you on Taylor as well. I’d bet after yesterday that he’s cemented the top spot or maybe #2 behind Williams. Dillard reminds me more of Gesicki at TE last year. Solid combine numbers but based on the drills and Senior Bowl, he just might be an athlete first. Gesicki was just awful in drills so I’m not saying I wouldn’t want Dillard later or that he’s bad but the drills/Senior Bowl work shows the non-measurables.

If Dillard is so bad why does his QB speak so highly of him???

Marty said The oline class is deep at the top..

I think the offensive line – tackles and guards in particular – are strong up top. There are four or five guys I think can go in the first round.”

Hmmmmm 4 to 5 guys could go in the 1st round.. Taylor, Dillard, Williams, Ford, Risnor that's 5 OT.. But he also added interior Olinemen to his opinion.. So Bradberry Listrome, McCoy are easy 1st round guys.. There 7  to 8 guys I can think of easily.. Before a certain  player is even thought of..lol

Lindstrom and McCoy are 2nd rounders IMO. Same with Risner. I think he also said that there were good day 2 OL to paraphrase.

I’m really scared about this draft. Who’s available at 16 is up in the air and I think we’ve done a good job with our visits and scouting to have our bases covered and at least narrowed it down to edge or DL and OT. I’m just worried about the tackles.

Oh i agree I'm just pointing out who isn't on that list..

The Godfather, Gil Brant, who is in contact with all 32 teams and many more scouts, has said on Sirius that there are 16 players with consensus 1st round grades which is very typical of previous years.  That’s not to say that some teams/scouts don’t have various other rated that high, but these are not consensus.  He went on to say that 17-75 were rated so close that any could be chosen without it being considered a reach.  So this is going to be a “needs” draft between the mid first and mid third rounds and it will be BPA for your team.  Since they are on the cusp,, it’s up to the Panthers to decide whether that want a true graded 1st round player if there “needs” are gone by 16 or maybe trade back if they can find a partner.

and this is why I would strongly consider trading down this year.  Of those 16 1st round grades there is a good chance some don't fit our system or are a need so at 16 we might be picking the same type of graded player we could pick at 20 and get extra pick in that 17-75 range.

That's the exact reason why teams dont want to trade up either
