Also I wasn't the only one that says he needs competition, I think it was the coaching staff that said that. But hey some of the people on the huddle thinks they know everything. Hell I think every position needs competition just not the qb.

Fair enough.

To be clear, I'm not somebody who would hold off on drafting or signing a new player out of fear it might offend a current player. That's poor roster management.

Mind you, I don't see that as an issue in the current situation. Newton doesn't need a challenge, but he definitely does need a backup and the team needs insurance.

Nope, I wouldn't worry about offending a player with a draft pick either. But there's only so many resources to go around. I'm only spending a high pick on a QB if I think there's a good chance we may need him starting pretty soon.

I think what happened last season may have convinced the Panthers that that's a real possibility.

Pick 16 becoming a nice trade target would be great, especially if we just force the Giants to move up a spot and toss in pick 95 or 108 for the trouble.

Giants trade up scenarios assume that they don't just go ahead and take a quarterback with their pick at number six.

@Verge could you ask your source where are the talent gaps on his/colleagues rankings? example the talent drops 1-5 then 6-25 then 26-100. (each group has similar talent) I hope I'm clear about this question.

Scary because her mock has it banking on Winovich being there in the 2nd and Savage in the 3rd.

Dont see either being there.  And while this edge class is Strong, its top heavy and not deep like OT.  So the dropoff after Winovich is significant 

We could be severely hurting on defense this up coming season and making things going into next offseason interesting as Haynes will be the only Edge guy under contract. Out of the current guys

At this point I’m coming around to trading back. If we’re going OL I rather get extra picks and still have plenty of OL to choose from. I still hope to get Burns or Ferrell.
