Lonnie said our coaches told him they loved his tape.

Dude has all the tools and plenty of potential.  Wouldn't want him in Rd2.

But that comp pick in the 3rd comes around and he's on the board, id take a hard look.

Why do you say things that you know will hurt me D:

Dont see any possible way we draft Savage in the 1st.  After this FA Safety class and teams with needs there filling holes there.  And the Safety class being ome of the more "Deeper classes"

No more than 2 safeties will go in round 1

So out of Savage, Gardner-Johnson, Adderly, Thompson, Thronhill, Rapp.  All but 2 of those guys will most likely be available with our 2nd pick, and possibly 2 of those being available in round 3.

Who says he doesn't need to bulk up? I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of 4-3 teams don't see him as a 4-3 DT. I just don't think he's going to give you any juice off the edge as a 4-3 DE.

I could see a team using him as a 4-3 strong side defensive end on running downs and then moving him inside on passing downs.  In that regard you could convince yourself he has some versatility that will keep on the field a lot.

He is a bit of a classic example of a guy with good tape, at the end of the season a lot of people thought of him as a first rounder.  Then the measurables  weren't great and he didn't have a great week at the senior bowl.

Either way I don't think he is in play at 16 for us and if he makes it to 47 he might be depending on what our coaches really plan on doing scheme wise next year.

Actually if we stay predominately 4-3 like we have in the past I think strong side DE is a huge need for us.  We don't really have that stout guy that can hold up against the run and get some pressure.

Burns is another one that is going to be a bit scheme specific.  He weighed 249 at the combine, which was more than most thought he would, but he probably bulked up some for the weigh in.  He might actually end up playing closer to 240 which is somewhat light for 4-3 ends.  In the regards some teams might see him as more situational, especially early in his career.  I think 3-4 OLB might end up being his best position.

Sweat on the other hand I think is a little more tailored towards 4-3 end, but there are rumors of the heart condition.

All it takes is one team.  Detroit could pick Burns at 8 or he could fall to 20.

In reference to that CBS mock, if we get Savage at 47, Deiter at 77, and Boykin at 100 I would be extremely happy, even with Ferrel at 16.  Speaking of Ferrel he was the dream pick around here until these other guys tested well.

That’s what I’m saying...funny how people fall in love with other guys jumping high in their underwear. Give me a football player, that’s actually produced every year, great work ethic and leadership and doesn’t quit every time. People saying he’s unathletic are overblowing it..but but but he was playing with other good players that took attention...he would be here too with Short,Addison, kuechly etc. that dude is ready to go right now. He’s an impact player. If we take him that dude will get us 7-10 sacks and a lot of tackles for loss and pressures. I take that at 16 all day long over a project guy with “tons of potential” like Gary. Those picks get GMs fired. We need someone that can play and impact right now at 16 whatever position we take

I haven't fallen off of Sweat. I'd be perfectly happy with him at #16.

He didn't say Burns doesn't have a first round grade, just that all this top 10 talk for a guy who is essentially a third down specialist is kind of silly. I believe he is actually higher on Burns than Allen, but that again stems from rushing the passer being more valuable than a gap filler.

Do you know if we are targeting A LT with our first round pick?

From Tony Pauline:

Since the combine, there have been non-stop reports about the New York Jets and their desire to trade down from the third spot in the draft. If they do pull off a trade, who would they target? Below is what league insiders are telling me.

The names specifically given to me were left tackle Andre Dillard of Washington State and Jonah Williams of Alabama.

Dillard is the fastest-rising offensive tackle on draft boards, as we spoke about during last week’s podcast. There is talk he could land with the Buffalo Bills with the ninth selection, as the team would like to upgrade at left tackle.

With Darnold offering hope for the future, the Jets also need an upgrade at left tackle, as current starter Kelvin Beachum is in the final year of his three-year contract.

Dillard would be a terrific long-term solution at the spot.

Opinions are split on whether Jonah Williams can handle left-tackle duties at the next level; I believe it will be difficult for him. But I do think Williams can be a terrific guard and possibly play center at the next level, two areas the where the Jets need upgrades in both the long and short term.

Mhmm, been saying Dillard and Jonah would jockey for the first tackle taken since I created this thread.
