Have we all seen WR D.K Metcalf?

Feels like this is what's said about virtually every draft bust. When the production doesn't match the talent you have to ask why.

No it’s really not... you guys use production to scout when that’s an inaccurate messurement. Production lies.. bad qb play.. scheme, injuries(he was hurt most of all of last season).

I do.. as does almost every scout or smart person that follows the draft. Go look at some tape and see a football player. He is that.

I'm from Mississippi and have seen him live and on TV for several years. That's why I'm laughing at this. His production screams meh. I get that you think he is better than Brown. He isnt. Hes a bust waiting to happen but by all means, get it out of your system. Look back in a couple of years and realize he was a physical freak and not a ball player.

And I get that you follow the team... no matter how you look at it he barely played for ole miss.. you got a better look st brown and that’s fine.. I think he is wr 1 in the draft as does almost every scout in America. I guess since u watched some ole miss games we should go with your opinion?

Brown is good.. I give him a second round grade. But fact is we have never seen a D. k Metcalf. If this was last season I would tak him over Moore. Easy.

I dont get people thinking every freak weather its physical or speed is gonna be an all pro in the NFL. Without the want or iq they wont improve. It takes a love of football to make it in this league and thats why alot of these guys bust and guys with less potential succeed. The only player that I can think of that I don't think loves football and succeeded off mostly freakishness was calvin Johnson, I really think be could have been the best to do it if he had the passion of say smitty.

He's showing everything and more in terms of pure athleticism. In terms of being a football player? Yeah... the jury is definitely still out on that one.

He's the type of prospect that honestly might be hurt by going as high as he's going to go. It means he's going to be shoehorned onto the field right away no matter what. He'd probably honestly be better off being a 2nd or 3rd rounder will more reasonable expectations and none of the pressure of being a high 1st rounder.

You act like he is just a product of his combine.. most people had him wr 1 or 2 coming into the combine.. and most had him as Wr 1 coming into this season when he got hurt. Fact is.. he is bigger faster and stronger than any Wr we have ever seen. Julio,Calvin, who ever you name. Is he a gamble? Sure.. but If I’m gonna swing I’m swinging for the fences and this is the kind of unseen talent u gamble on.

Rare athletic potential equals upside. You don’t go with some safe marginal athlete like Celin Farrell who played along side 2-3 other first rounders. How good is he without them? Saying wide receiver is off the table in the first, I would say lb was off the table when we got Shaq and Dt off the table when we got Butler.

Stop. The Ole Miss offense has had close to or over 4000 passing yards in all of Metcalf's season. It's not like he's being held down by playing in some triple option offense. What doesn't lie is that the guy gets vietually all of his production on fly routes or on plays where he's schemed open. He's basically a gadget player right now with a ton of raw potential. He's not a Charles Johnson or Julio Jones who is coming out of college ready to run a route tree and understanding how to read coverages. He's a really raw clump of very beautiful clay. Boom or bust. He'll either learn how to be a wide receiver or maybe he can last as a Cordarrelle Patterson type who is still exactly what Metcalf currently is. A very dynamic gadget player. You're not drafted a WR with Metcalf, you're draft a raw athlete and you're going to try to make him into a WR.

His stats at Ole Miss career

67 catches 1228 yds 18.3 ave 14 TD

AJ Brown stats 2018

85 catches 1320 yds 15.5 ave 6 TD

That's a career vrs last year. And watch the film. DK is running fly patterns on Elon, Presbyterian etc. Very few stats against Bama, KSU, Georgia etc. Hes a workout warrior that will get a GM and coaching staff fired. But enough, let who drafts him suffer their fate.

Wilkins and Ferrell still looked great against Bama with Lawrence suspended.

Im not doubting you buuut watched him for years?

Take the rivalry glasses off for a second

His Freshman year: 2catches for 2 TDs, then missed the rest of the season with a foot injury

Year 2 coming off a foot injury, he had 646 yards sharing balls with AJ Brown.

Then this past year, had 569 in just 7 games before going down with a neck injury.

He never even played 2 full seasons at Ole Miss.

So is Jeffrey Simmons overrated?  7 sacks in 3 seasons?

I'll have to watch tape but until I see any player suceed on the NFL level they are a gamble and id rather gamble at a position of need. If we didnt have DJ who has proven hes capable for at least 1 year id say go for it! Plus if scouts felt that way about him hed be going top 3 or 5

I agree.

Someone's going to pick him thinking they're getting the next Calvin Johnson. I'm not sure what they're actually going to get, but I don't think it's going to be the next Calvin Johnson.
