Have we all seen WR D.K Metcalf?

Of the two Ole Miss Receivers, Brown is better. Brown is not as fast, but is more physical and actually runs patterns. Most of what Metcalf runs are fly or go patterns. He would have to be taught the route tree and already has a neck injury that cost him most of a year.. Give me Brown because I see a major bust here.

Except hes not. He was Wide receiver one heading into the season before the neck Injury and all most all scouts have Metcalf ahead of Brown. Brown is seen as a 2-3 round pick tho but his NFL chops are not the same caliber as Metcalf. Kip has him 14.

14. D.K. Metcalf, WR, Ole Miss**

Height: 6-4 | Weight: 230 | Previously: NR

Metcalf is a freaky athlete with a huge frame -- just look at this viral photo. On tape, he shows elite traits: speed to beat cornerbacks one-on-one, the physicality to go over the middle and the athleticism to outjump any defender. The problem? Health. He had a scary neck injury that ended his 2018 season early, though he is going to work out at the combine. He also broke his foot in 2016. This ranking is about projection because he could be a scary-good No. 1 receiver. He's going to test well at the combine, but the medical check is more important.

Scouts Inc have him at 15 out of everyone in the draft. Production does=Greatness or ability when all can be inflated by a number of things.

If your asking can he play ball I think its important to look for what he can do.. I am are this doesn't Show low lights and drops but bear with me..You consistently see him running away from defenders which tells me he is fast I mean seriously dont compare him to funchess.. Big frame or not he isn't some stiff body builder... Makes hands catches..Wins 50-50 situation and shows elite break tackle ability(Sounds like DJ Moore).

I'm well aware of what these accountants who masquerade as talent evaluators think, but he is going to bust. Brown is a round one talent and is better. Ole Miss also produced a cant miss WR two years ago named Laquon Tredwell. Remember him. First round pick by the Vikes and never sees the field. Check out Brown's interview with Sports Illustrated earlier this year. He said they weren't running routes, they were told to "Get Open". Brown will have a good NFL career: Metcalf will be a total bust of the type that gets a GM fired variety. Hes not a player

Just curious but what is your insight/basis for your evaluation on Metcalf? Do you watch a lot of Ole Miss games, alumni? Not asking to disagree with you because I think you are spot on and you seem to know what you are talking about.

"Iowa State’s Hakeem Butler is not only the tallest wide receiver at this year’s combine (6-5 3/8), but his hands are also a freakish 10 34 — the same size as the largest hands in the NBA. The combination of Butler’s hand zone and his impressive 35 2/8 arms give him an incredible 83 7/8 wingspan; which mean he has the arms of a person who is 7 feet tall. "

Hakeem Butler is a played I’d love to see in Carolina. We need a big body and he has potential

No one is perfect as far as scouting goes.. there is no exact science to this thing. But, being rated highly just means a player shows the traits they need to success.. that doesn’t mean they won’t bust for various other reasons.. scheme.. look how Jared Goff looked under fisher... or there own laziness or accord(what most of the huddle thinks of KB dude was talented).

I saw Tredwell in college thought he was good but D.K looks faster.. more aggressive, and if you watch the video I just posted it shows he is a competitor. He’s a football player, just watching him compete this isn’t a body builder playing the game he catches aggressively and breaks tackles like he wants it. I’m willing to bet dk vs brown if u wanna revisit this after the season.

You got it. I have no interest in the Panthers taking a WR in the draft. We have way to many other needs in the first 4 rounds and think we are set at WR. We can revisit this because I believe Brown will outperform Metcalf. I hope both go top 15 to move guys down we need at 16.

I'm a Mississippi State alumni and have season tickets. I see a lot of these SEC guys either in person or on TV and follow most of these guys due to us recruiting the same players. I've seen both players for several years and just think Brown is going to be good. Metcalf has always looked soft and uninterested if he isnt getting a clean catch. Brown will aggressively go up for balls. I like his game better and think its translates to the NFL better.

I 100% agree with you saying we have bigger needs.. but the huddle loves preaching bpa and never say never when u have that mentality. We drafted Shaq and put him behind 2 guys and he never really saw starting reps til the last year of his rookie contract. We drafted Vern Butler to sit his whole rookie contract behind Star and Short. So saying this couldn’t happen isn’t realistic.

I personally think trading up to get a better pass rusher is the move to make. Depending on how the board falls.. bosa Allen, Williams, and Gary are projected top 7 picks.. after that part I would get antsy and want to assure myself atleast sweat. After that the guys are kind of decent and a true below as far as pass rushers go.

If u sit and wait maybe Farrell is there but I am not a fan I think he’s a decent player but unless he shows athleticism at the combine he has hidden I don’t like him as much as the other guys. I would take Oliver Greedy Williams, Dex Lawrence before him. Not to mention the tackles Noah, Little, and the other fast riser from where is he Washington state... forgetting his name.

A lot of people seem high on Greedy Williams but if you look at him coming out of high school, he was not a great athlete. I suspect he is going to disappoint in some of these drills, if he participates at all. It will be interesting to see.

He needs a good combine for sure to boost his stock back up. At the start of the Draft process he was a top 5 lock.. and I was seeing they expected him to run well which is what made him such a highly sought after guy since most big corners aren’t that fast or agile.  I think he’s gonna surprise you..let’s revisit this after this weekend.

Yeah, I am curious to see that as well. So far most of the projected top 15-20 guys that had questions prior to the combine have answered them emphatically.

Had a feeling that might be the case. I have heard the same from people that have close ties to Ole Miss.
