Have we all seen WR D.K Metcalf?

A lot of those numbers were rolled up against lesser opponents. Ole Miss struggled pretty mightily against better SEC competition. I am not sure I would throw all the success that they had on Longo right away.

I think Metcalf is an interesting guy. A physical freak with some injury issues and more of a project than a guy you can throw out right away to contribute. I wouldn't touch him as a Panthers fan but I can see how other teams/fanbases could get enamored with him. If he had been in the 2018 draft, I am not going to claim I might not have been on that bandwagon.

Here is his tape vs Bama in 2018

The first long TD is against one of Bama's fastest players fwiw

In my header I said WR wasn’t an immediate need, but, D.Ks talent is seen as superior to those you listed. At 6’2 225 I Believe his wing span today was second only to maybe one other guy who was 6’5. Will be more telling what he runs when he does.

Sure it is, but I have absolutely zero interest in spending a 1st or 2nd round pick at WR.

He looks like a teenage boy's super hero drawing assignment.  You can make the jokes about how his muscles have muscles have muscles, etc.  He broke Leonardo's Vitruvian Man.  We can have some fun there!

Now how does he play?  Does he catch contested balls well?  Is he a hands catcher, or does it go to his body too often?  How many routes was he asked to make.  How well does he read coverage?  If we're talking about a 1st round pick, he needs to do some of those things really well.

Look to DJ Moore - Moore had some deficiencies from college, but his tape was full of an athletic marvel who made horrible QBs look great as the only known weapon in the passing game.  I don't think DK has that same resume.  He's much more of a 3rd round kind of player, but someone will fall in love with his superhero physique and athletic prowess and think they can turn him into the next Calvin Johnson.

One problem, football isn't bodybuilding.

The guy caught 26 passes for 569 yards in an offense that threw the ball 440 times for nearly 4200 yards.

This guy is the prototypical bust. Mediocre college production, but unreal physical talent and absolutely looks the part

Paying attention to physical characteristics over actual production gets you Mike Mamula.

Of the two Ole Miss Receivers, Brown is better. Brown is not as fast, but is more physical and actually runs patterns. Most of what Metcalf runs are fly or go patterns. He would have to be taught the route tree and already has a neck injury that cost him most of a year.. Give me Brown because I see a major bust here.

Works both ways if you just pay attention to Just production you get Colt Brennan From Hawaii or every other Texas Tech QB not named Patrick Mahomes...I think traits in players are more important.

    • i felt good for those few games that bryce didn't look like the worst in the league. all that fell apart again sunday.  i'm borderline just bailing on it all. i've been hanging on by a thin thread for several years. i mean it's not even fun to watch any football right now.
