Have we all seen WR D.K Metcalf?

There's a reason you havent heard of him before the combine. Hes not a standout receiver.

I wouldn’t say all that.. I think he was graded pretty good coming out of high school and stats can be skewed by a million differently things... bad qb play, seniors ahead of him, offensive line so on. I believe finding traits is what you look for more than stats.

looking at his few receptions I see a lot of touchdowns which tell me he can be a red zone target, also looking at his long receptions in each of those few season is he isn’t slow and runs away from people..

Yeah

1. He's still pretty raw

2. He's young

3. The offense and other WRs around him such as AJ Brown

4. He had a season ending neck injury where he missed pretty the entire season (doctors actually just cleared him for the combine).  Scouts thiught he was the #1 WR entering this past season before the injury

He'll be gone before our pick

Ole Miss passed for 4157 yards this past season. Metcalf accounted for 9.2% of their receptions and 13.7% of their receiving yards. He has to be really, REALLY raw as a receiver to have his type of talent and not get fed the ball more. Mack Brown just plucked their OC away and given his connections in the college football world I don't think he's gonna hire a scrub.

"Iowa State’s Hakeem Butler is not only the tallest wide receiver at this year’s combine (6-5 3/8), but his hands are also a freakish 10 34 — the same size as the largest hands in the NBA. The combination of Butler’s hand zone and his impressive 35 2/8 arms give him an incredible 83 7/8 wingspan; which mean he has the arms of a person who is 7 feet tall. "

If for some reason we go WR I hope Hakeem Butler is a player we target. I love his game long rangy and athletic. He is the type of WR we need to compliment Samuel and Moore.

I want Riley Ridley or Lil'Jordan Humphrey, but I don't want to go with a WR before the 3rd and I don't think Ridley will last that long.

He missed allmost the entire season due to a neck injury which is another reason stats lie. He was basically wide receiver 1 heading into this season which is why he is coming back up after getting healthy.

Don't know those guys, but are the tall WR's? We don't need another small WR.

A lot of those numbers were rolled up against lesser opponents. Ole Miss struggled pretty mightily against better SEC competition. I am not sure I would throw all the success that they had on Longo right away.

I think Metcalf is an interesting guy. A physical freak with some injury issues and more of a project than a guy you can throw out right away to contribute. I wouldn't touch him as a Panthers fan but I can see how other teams/fanbases could get enamored with him. If he had been in the 2018 draft, I am not going to claim I might not have been on that bandwagon.

Cool. We can't afford to take a WR at #16 with massive needs along the DL and possibly needing a starting OT too. That would be a big time luxury pick and the last two of those didn't exactly pan out so well for us.

Ridley is 6'2"ish but plays quite a bit bigger IMO. Humphrey is 6'4". Yes, I agree. If we add a WR it needs to be a bigger possession oriented WR. That's exactly what both Ridley and Humphrey are.

In my header I said WR wasn’t an immediate need, but, D.Ks talent is seen as superior to those you listed. At 6’2 225 I Believe his wing span today was second only to maybe one other guy who was 6’5. Will be more telling what he runs when he does.
