Tommy John Surgery= Failure???

He is getting old too, just sayin'. He used to have one of the deepest throws in the league but that was quite a few years ago. Doesn't seem like it though. When you have an arm like that, the dropoff in effectiveness is way more apparent when with a deep baller than say with a Jeff Garcia.

In 2007 his arm was already in shreds and had been injured several times. In 2006 and 2007 he couldn't even throw much without pain and didn't throw every day in camp or take all the reps in practice during the season.

So any great comparisons before and after surgery should recognize that his arm and elbow were injured and his strength on the ball was much diminished long before the TJ surgery. And by all accounts his arm is stronger now.

He still has touch just look at the pass to Barnidge yesterday. The problem is consistency which has been a problem since 2005.

He has actually gotten more consistent. Look how many 2+ turnover games he has had this season. 5 out of 6 talk about consistency.

There are no 100%s in life because there are ALWAYS exceptions. Yes, I think Fauvre is exceptional because he is tough and despite throwing oodles of INTs, he still wins a lot of games. Not many QBs you can say that about.

Oh...and please don't EVER compare those two ever again. Your football knowledge surpasses that. :)

I have two theories:

1. That Saints game last year the 'dome. That last play that Jake threw up for Steve and that miracle catch that he came down with. Well, after the play we all saw Jake grab his arm in pain. Week ago, we play Arizona and his passes are WAY off.

2. The ARizona game exposed a huge issue with Jake and other teams watch footage and see how to play us.

Whatever it is, one thing is clear --- Jake never speaks up when there is a problem, so he could be hurting the team and nobody would know.

    • You realize the Commanders and Texans both had trash rosters. That's how they ended up with the #2 pick.   How all of sudden they go from bottom feeders to a playoff team the following season?   I think you don't realize the true impact of a franchise QB. It's crazy people still trying to debate the value of the QB position.   Y'all living in the 90's football isn't played that way anymore. The Baltimore Ravens dominate defense won in a different era. This is a QB era. You can't hit them like you could in the past. The rules have changed in favor of the QB.   Look at the elite teams in the league they all have elite QBs. Without the QB your franchise is going nowhere.   7 years under Tepper and fans still haven't realized this. Well keep ignoring the QB position and we will keep sucking. It's really that simple.
    • He needs to retire. His short stint returning to play for us showed Ho bad his shoulder had degraded.  No team is going to sign him. As soon as he retires the celebration of his career can begin.
    • The recipe over the last 5 years: 1. draft a guy with high athletic ability at a position of need.  2. play him out of his natural position because you have a big hole to fill. 3. watch him struggle.  4. let a young and promising talent grow depressed and apathetic because a God forsaken franchise is ruining what he has busted his ass his entire life to achieve.  The only reason Luke moved to the middle was because Beason got hurt. Think about that. It’s complete arrogance of the coaching staff to tell a player where he’s better suited… or the mark of a desperate team who drafts out of need.    This is what happens to teams that draft poorly and have no depth. Constantly working from behind and drafting for need.
