Tommy John Surgery= Failure???

It's clear something is wrong with Delhommes arm.

He just has no consistent control over the ball at all, it's almost unexplainable.

How much velocity do pitches retain after the surgery?

Blaming Jake's troubles on the surgery is faulty. Some of the best play he's had as a Panther was in the first half of last season.

i dont know....but 8 out of 10 of his throws are off target or misses.this guy is done, and if if fox doesnt have the balls to bench him than jake should bench himself.

It's not like his arm is weak or anything...and that's almost the problem. Two, maybe all three of his picks were from putting WAY too much juice on it...which is on him IMO.

But think about, were all those plays exemplifying his arm? Or were they the results of Smith making a play, or Dwill making a play.

Dude Jake's arm before the surgery wasn't this bad, and it shouldn't have deteriorated this badly because of age.

I'm sure we all remember how on fire Jake was before the surgery, that 8 TD 1 int start to the 2007 season???? Then Surgery, now he can't hit the side of a barn.

I was just saying the same thing. Jake seemed to be really hot before the injury. I doubt he was going to be the second coming of Dan Marino, but he was at the very least a player that could go out and win a game.

I know this is maybe the worst possible case of stating the obvious, but he isn't close to that right now. He never makes catches easy for his receivers...even when they are wide open. I don't know if it is confidence or the injury, but he is unusually inaccurate for a veteran NFL QB. More so than before the injury. When throws are high or behind a guy, that often eliminates or minimizes YAC. This hurts Smitty more than anyone.

That TD pass to DeShaun Foster against the Falcons was the epitome of what Jake Delhomme was that season, the touch on that throw as crazy.

I haven't seen that kind of touch from him since the surgery.

In 2007 his arm was already in shreds and had been injured several times. In 2006 and 2007 he couldn't even throw much without pain and didn't throw every day in camp or take all the reps in practice during the season.

So any great comparisons before and after surgery should recognize that his arm and elbow were injured and his strength on the ball was much diminished long before the TJ surgery. And by all accounts his arm is stronger now.

He still has touch just look at the pass to Barnidge yesterday. The problem is consistency which has been a problem since 2005.

Delhomme played better with a broke arm. I don't think it's his arm, I think he just plain stinks now.

If his arm is stronger then why do the number of underthrown deep balls greatly outnumber the amount of over thrown?
