Panthers moving on from Mike Adams

This was a good move. We need to get younger at FS. If we could find a rangy/athletic ball hawk to pair with Eric Reid it would do wonders for our pass defense. I just hope we can find an affordable FA or hit the jackpot in the 2019 draft. I don't believe an adequate replacement for Adams is currently on the roster.

It's the right move. I just hope we aren't planning to put all of our FS eggs in the Gaulden basket. He did not look good as a rookie for a  3rd round pick and if he doesn't look a lot better very early on in camp I think we should consider giving him a look at nickel where he primarily played in college. That spot should be open too.

He may still have another year or two as an average in-the-box type safety but yeah, definitely not what the Panthers need alongside Reid. All the best to him if he wants to keep playing though I hope he remembers to bat the ball down on 4th down next time.

Agree.

I wonder if that is not already the plan.

Who knows? If it is, I certainly hope that we have very good indications that he's going to make a big rookie to sophomore leap.

If the safety FA market is very soft again, I'd love to add someone like Tre Boston to compete at that spot. I'd sign a guy like that and give him low level starter/high level back up money without hesitation. Even if we think Gaulden can be the guy, our safety depth is non-existent.
