I broke down the two's draft histories in 2017 when Hurney came back on board and also included the Steelers as a point of reference since we want to mimic them as a franchise as well as place precedent on drafting and developing talent rather than signing free agents.

The numbers were clear that Gettleman was also the superior drafter. If you're interested in the breakdown, I can do some digging.

Unfortunately for Gettleman, another requirement for being good at anything you do is being able to do it without being an abrasive ***** (unless you're promoting a fight or running for president apparently) which he just couldn't do.

It's not as well remembered, but that was a source of friction between Richardson and Bill Polian too.

Guess you could say Richardson didn't work well with yankees.

Not including the 2017 season since that was Gettleman + Hurney.

Gettleman:
40W 23L 1T (.625)
x1 NFC Championship
x3 NFC South titles
x4 playoff appearances
x4 seasons (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016)

Hurney:
93W 99L (.484)
x1 NFC Championship
x2 NFC South titles
x3 playoff appearances
x12 seasons as Panthers' GM (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2018)

If we look include Hurney's time as Director of Player Operations in 1998, then the record is 97W 111L (.466). Can we please stop this ridiculous narrative that he is/was a better GM?

Lmaoooo DG did this with Hurneys main draft picks leading our team. DG draft history and player relationship is trash.
